I personally am leaving the EL-34's in the amp. Love the cut.

There is an increased presence gain with the 34s from what I am hearing which would be added cut as you state. I am wondering about the mesa autobias and whether or not there is an increased wattage output with the 34s??

Love 34s in rectos and your clip is no exception. They don't just add cut/presence, they seem to add mid content that these amps need. (I like KT77s the best) Nice job!

They're sooo killer in rectos! You get that nice sizzle and mid structure, but with more beef than the 34s. Your clips are great man, keep em coming!

Yeah I wanted the EL-34's because the Multi-Watt Recto can get pretty boomy.

Love your clips. They always sound great. Make me want to try a Recto. TBH, I liked them both but would probably go 6L6 if I had a choice. No reason in particular other than my ears like 6L6s right now.

i thought that the sound difference really wasnt that big.

the el34 did sound a little clearer and less congested.

but all in all very close.

i listened with my dt 770's.

I have a multi watt triple recto, so i hear what your are saying about the flub.

i got to run the bass way down to tighten up the sound.

i also like to run a boost to saturate the sound.

it is a little stiff for playing leads with out a boost.

Cool comparison clip. Certainly not night and day to my shitty ears. If I were just listening and not watching, I probably wouldn't notice the difference unless I was really paying attention. Of course in the room could be completely different. I do like the EL34's better though. Sounds really cool with that 7 string.

34's Vs 6L6's with me and my old recto was weird, for just jamming or practicing with the band I always liked the 6L6's but when it came to stage time 34's just seemed to work better for me.

I had a Tverb back in the day. It came loaded with 6's and after a year, I went to 34's. Never looked back.

EL34s for me too, it cuts better in the mix. I suggest too to give a look at the KT77.
