As requested in my Savage 60 thread,
here are two high gain clips of the Mark V:25.
It actually sounded better through that 2x12 Marshall cab than I remembered.

The sound level is no longer bedroom friendly. Not exactly stage volume either, but you'd have to shout in the room to be heard over the amp.

Chain:
Gibson Flying V '67 RI with Super Distortion bridge--->Ibanez TSMini--->DOD 250 (modded)--->MXR Phase 95--->Mark V:25--->Marshall 1966B 2x12 (T75+V30).
I'm switching the TS Mini on and off during both clips.
Graphic EQ is engaged in heavy V setting.

Not afraid of any 'opprobrium' in the comments. :lol: :LOL: ;)

Sounds awesome. But can you please tell me what the master volume was set at? :lol: :LOL:

Could be 1.8... :lol: :LOL: The Master volume is quite finnicky.

Thanks for sharing those!! Sick playing brother!!!

That little Mark V:25 definitely punches above its weight class! You were really able to show the versatility of that amp between Crunch and Extreme. And there’s Mark IIC and IV yet, and that’s not even getting into the Clean and Fat channels.

Cheers

Sounds great, just based on those I think I prefer both without the TS. Really like that Crunch.

Sounds great. Love mine. Great tones in the V:25

Nicely done!
I just got this amp myself a couple of weeks ago. I really love it! I like the crunch and the Mark IV modes myself. I find when I run it into my Waza TAE, the extreme mode does not work as well. Almost sounds squashed for some strange reason. The other modes sound perfect though so no issue.

Amazing mini head!

Thanks guys. :thumbsup:

Listening back to back between the Mark V:25 and the Savage 60, while both are pretty saturated, it seems that the Engl can remain a bit more raw.
The thing is, if you use the same base sound for rhythm and leads (where leads get some delay and volume boost), sometimes compromises need to be made.
This is where the Engl shines more for rhythm tones, but sometimes seems to lack some 'liquidity' for leads, that both my Mesa's do have.
Conversely, the Mesa's, because of their thickness and liquid qualities in the lead-tone, can come across a bit too thick/juicy for tight rhythm playing.

Also, this is all done without any EQ in the loop. One can sculpt their tone a lot more then; especially if you want to scoop the Mesa and Savage even more; both amps are quite middy to begin with.

I must be in a minority because I like the IIC mode. It’s nice and tight for rhythm.

I have the 1x10 combo paired with a Thiele 1x12. It’s so fun to play!!

To me the IIC+ mode is too middy and 'weak'. From the videos I've heard from actual IIC+'s, this is not like the real thing at all.

I have a Thiele too btw, and it does take quite some EQ-ing to balance it out; I can crank the presence for instance, whereas on different cabs I'd have to dial it back.

Well, due to some testing of running the heads through my Torpedo Live, I revisited the Mark V:25's IIC+ mode;
it sounds a lot better, meaner and rawer this way when you give it a ton of volume. :thumbsup:
More Metallica (MOP), less Santana. :rock: Of course, selecting the right IR helps, but a few of my favorites work well with the Mark V:25.

Funny enough, I'm running the Mark V:25 apparently so loud (around 9-10 'o clock on the channel volumes) through the Torpedo, that you can hear/experience power tube sag going on.
