cool c-slice!
i dont know why the V gets such mixed reviews

both Vs i played, combo and head, were super fun and reminded me of the good things about mark series with tons of flexibility

Thanks! I think people are hung up on comparing to older models. I've had the Quad Preamp, Mark III, and a Mark II combo way back when. This amp is pretty easy to dial in and sounds real good, IMO

Cool tones and nice playing Carl. I've played a Mark V a couple of times and it was a very fun amp. If I had the scratch at those times I may have walked home with it.

Thanks! My friend plays a V in his band and i always liked the tones he got. I wanted something that wasn't Marshall and this is perfect.

PS, the guy that asked about the Edge mode on ch 2. I tried making a vid. Didn't like the way it came out. They may have well called it the 'slice" mode. it has the Stiletto treble slice that is hard to dial out and less gain. Makes the muddiest humbuckers sound like a Strat   A useless mode for me

Hmm interesting. You know it may work better on 8 and 7 string guitars to help try and tighten the bottom end. :dunno:

I saw in your other post you had a rack mount Mark 4. I did too in the late 80's.... it was my first "boutique" amp. That was back when Boogie was boutique. :D

Nice toans. Very liquid and smooth OD.

I'm currently about this ][ far from pulling the trigger on a Mark V rig. I had a Studio .22+ about 15 years ago and have not had a channel switcher (or a "gain" knob) amp since, it's been all Fender vintage types. But I'm getting back into heavier music, and I've been very impressed with what I've heard out of the Mesa. I've owned 2 different Marshall Jubilees and never cared for either - I much preferred the Boogie gain.

I'm also going with a head-cab setup, which I've never done before. I'm going to try to find one of the old Boogie 3/4 back 1X12's to start, possibly adding a closed back 1X12 with a V-30 before it's all over.

With the Clean Fat or Tweed mode you can still do old school w/ pedals. I had one of those Mesa 3/4 back 1X12's w/ a 100 watt Celecstion (used w/ a Komet head) Great cab.

The nice thing about the mark IV and I assume the mark v is that they sound very good at low volumes. With my jubilee, I have to get it to 6 on the master to really give up the goods. I love have a jubilee and a mark Iva. This video is renewing some of my mark v gas. After all what's better than a mark IV? A mark IV and a mark v :)
