Multiwatt Triple and Rev G Dual Rectifier clips. Posting in a way to help me toggle between the clips easier.

Both are in Vintage High Gain mode. Mostly set up the same. Triple is in 50 watt mode and tube rectified. Dual is SS rectified and full power.

Starts out unboosted. Then a Maxon OD808 for the AiC riffing. Then a Boss SD-1 for the thrashier stuff. Apologies for butchering any/all of the riffs.

Triple:

Dual:

Listening back to them, they sound very similar to me. the Triple seems a bit more defined and more crisp. The Dual is a bit more congested and slurs/smears things together a bit more but also I think sounds a bit meaner? But really sound similar of course.

I agree with your assessment. What I found interesting is that I usually prefer a TS style boost over the SD1 in most situations but the SD1 sounded better to me here.

Thanks! Part of what you're hearing is that the pedals are set up very different. The Maxon has the level on 7 and drive on 0, while the SD-1 has the level on 10 and the drive around 3. So the SD-1 is working a lot harder. You might just like a more saturated sound, which the Maxon easily can give if I up the level and/or drive. For whatever reason, with the combination of the Recto and the Maxon's extra bass, I prefer to keep it more moderate for the high-gain-up-maybe-not-metal stuff that I like. The SD-1 cuts more low end, so it seems happier to go nuts with the metal chugga chugga.

Call me crazy, but I like the dual a little bit better overall, good clips, thanks for sharing!

Thanks! I've convinced myself that I prefer the Dual Rec better too. IMHO it just sounds "richer" and meaner to me. It definitely struggles a bit with the low F# string, but I use that string pretty rarely and I'd rather use the amp that sounds better with the top 7 strings that I use the vast majority of the time. And it's not like the Triple really handles the low F# all that much better (it's better, but not what I'd consider great).

I don't go lower than C#std, my tremoverb does all I need. From what I hear as far as information goes, the tremoverb is similar to the rev g duals. I like having on board reverb too.

I'm really thrilled with the Rectifiers. They handle crunch tones really well (as well as my Marshall 2204 IMHO) and obviously can do crushing metal stuff too.

I haven't used multi-channel amps in a while and we playing with the Orange channel set to Clean and thought it sounds really good. I had the volume around 3:00 (bypassed the loop) and used the Gain knob to control the decibel level. Sounded like a really nice clean tone.

Recto seems to be able to do it all.

I usually use a different amp for cleans then dirt, unless it is my Rivera, sig:x, or my mkIV. I use the cleans from a vintage fender or music mans.

If I were to gig, I would just deal with subpar cleans. I have both channels on my tremoverb as high gain. Lol. It's more fun that way.
