the title says it all. what are your experiences? the roadster is a nice, but dark sounding amp. i've heard good and bad about the recto 212s. i get tilting them, but other than that are they that, eh, scooped sounding for anything other than metal?

They are very good with the roadsters. I use a straight recto cab with my roadster and it doesn't sound dark at all. I can get a pretty good lamb of god sound from it. They are great cabs with the roadster, it has that massive bottom end and thump, but you can still get it tight. very good cleans to mid gain crunch too

I would agree to the thread. Too dark for sure....I owned a Mesa 2x12 and it records like a box. Really Really dark. The roadster is already dark. Get a brighter cab to balance it out. Legacy front loaded, or VHT, or Marshall With Greenbacks. For the money.....SPLAWN with SMALL BLOCKS

Dude, just grab a Stiletto cab. Way better balance than the dark/boomy recto cabs.

The Recto cabs are a perfect fit for a Recto amp. Lots of mids (clarity) without a whole lot of upper bass (mud). They do produce a fair bit of low bass (boom), but that's easily fixed through proper selection of EQ and guitar/pickups.

I have a Roadster and I can tell you from owning them that the Recto 2x12 is slightly more scooped than the slant 4x12... but whatever. If you're buying a Recto it's probably not because you're looking to sound like an AM radio...
