Just a few random riffs :lame: and some old fashioned dial and tube tweaking.

Pshaw to needing to boost and mod for this amp! Pshaw I say!

Some dialing and Rec's sound great.

I don't boost my Triple. I likely would if I played metal. I don't, so I don't.

That sounds great, man! Can I have those settings? Bought one last weekend, and I'm still dialing it in. Been busy with work, and this sounds like a great start. Nice beefy riffs too. What cab are you pairing it with, and is that just guitar>cable>amp?

Thanks! Settings are:
Modern Mode
Presence 10/10
Bass 4/10
Mids 5/10
Treble 5/10
Gain 8/10

Guitar>Tuner>Gate>Amp>Mesa Trad. 4x12 w/V30's.

Preamp is Chinese>Russian>Chinese>Slovak>Chinese
Poweramp is 5881's.

LTD EC-500 w/ EMG 81 tuned drop D half step down.

Sounds good unboosted with that particular signal chain IMHO. Those EMG pickups have a LOT to do with your not needing a boost though... were I to plug my LP with hot PAFs into that amp I'm pretty sure that I would have to boost it to get what I want out of it.

Hes right about the EMGS...But this amp can sound killer...Not too big on mesa, But I love the signle rec and the rev f....Growl for days.

Sounds pretty good, sort of like my old Dual before I had it modded!   Rectos do sound good stock for some tones, but IMO the right boost or mod can take it over the top.

Nice, thanks man! Gonna give it a shot later today.....pretty sure I've got at least one guitar around here with actives in it.... :D

EDIT: Had to adjust the bass for the BKPs, and I ran a 10 band into the loop, but this is pretty much perfect...I hit the boost on mine and run the gain about 4/10, and it's this perfect thrashy tone....thanks dude.

Sounds nice! I still tweak mine constantly. So you dime the presence? I'll have to try that, I usually run it about noon. Actually, I'll just post my settings for anyone interested.

Presence noon
Bass 9-10 oclock
Mids 3 oclock
Treble 1:30-2 oclock
Gain 2 o'clock
With el34s btw. Also, low volumes it sounds pretty horrid. These settings don't start breathing until you get around 9 o'clock on the output. Louder you go, the better it is! Running through a Marshall 800 cab with g12t75s and wgs retro 30s.

Sounds awesome man. Can't wait to get my 2 channel Dual Rec next week. Sold a dual rec once and regretted it ever since.

I didn't initially, but do now because I like how it interacts with the amps mids. It will sound SUPER bright when you do, but you have to just slowly push the treble back to round off the resulting spikey fizz. The treble pot adds gain, so lowering that allows me to raise the gain dial more for some added growl and liquid sustain without the usual mud and sizzle these amps have with the gain up high.
