I’ve got some Ruby EL34’s from Doug’s Tubes and they are rated at 34-35mA. I’m wondering if they’ll fall in the fixed Bias range of a Mesa Stiletto Ace.

They should be fine. I used to run 38 in my Stiletto when I had one.

34-35mA...at what plate voltage?

34-35mA...at what plate voltage?

Exactly.

No idea. That’s what is says on the box from Doug.

That’s probably put on there for matching purposes

There's a few variables. I know Doug just typically sells colder, medium, warmer grades, rather than ask for specifics of the amp, which is less of a concern for an adjustable bias. Being that the mesa has no adjustment, you'd want those ratings to be in line with the plate voltage of your amp, not that of the tester, if that makes sense - correct me if I'm wrong.

I assumed mesa’s have a pretty consistent plate voltage and that’s why they sell tubes which were “plug and play” and why some tube vendors could send u tubes that are supposed to fall into the proper fixed/unadjustable Bias for the amp without measurements.

If anyone cares I emailed Doug and asked him and he said that they should be “perfect”

Call Mesa. I'm sure they will tell you if that would work, I've asked Mike B about some used Sylvania 6L6s I have that biased around 32-40 ma and he said they would work fine in the SRG 2C+ I used to have.

I think its worth getting a bias probe so you know for sure. Bias will also change with wall voltage, so I now record all voltage when I check the bias on an amp.
