Sorry for my poor English, Please let me know if I missed anything and if you guys enjoyed this shootout, I will do more, If you are new to my channel, consider subscribing and sharing! Thank you!
Thank you so much! Great advice! That's exactly what I'm worried about. I did the vocal processing for matching the appearance of the Night King. Maybe I'll tone it down a bit next time. Thanks a lot!Snave":3apd1x4p said:Good demo! Your English is good, and this is a good mic shootout.
I'd consider dropping the vocal processing, or at least toning it down a bit. Makes the speaking parts more difficult (for lack of a better word) to understand and listen to.
Thank you!xzyryabx":27hwiztl said:Great video!
For the sound from 2:32-2:48, what was your signal chain?
Guitar->Zuul->interface->DAW->NTS->impulse?
What impulse did you use? What mic/speaker combo did it use?
For the mic comparisons, what was the signal chain?
Guitar->Zuul->amp input->amp out->cab->mic->interface->DAW?
I hate to say it but direct with the NTS sounded the best to me.
Thanks bud! I wondered if my SM7B is broken so I choose the word 'my SM7B' in the video. I've no idea how other SM7B sounds. I recorded some vocals with this SM7B, pretty good. But the EQ is like a telephone when recording guitars and that spike is so annoying. I'll do a part 2 video if I can get or borrow another SM7B. Thank you again for your response!Speeddemon":31hrdz74 said:This is definitely not my experience with these mics. I wonder if your SM7B is broken or has its phase reversed.
I did a shootout (not on Youtube...) in my homestudio with the following mics for guitar:
-SM57
-MD421
-RE-20
-M88
-M201
-SM7B
It made me sell the EV RE-20 since it was the most polite and boring one (also since I have a few lovely kickdrum mics... vintage AKG D12, Audio Technica ATM25, no harm done there) and while the Beyer M88 was the clear winner for me in that shootout, the SM7B was warm, thick and smooth sounding. Totally unlike your results.![]()
I think I used either a Warm Audio WA12 or a GAP PRE-73 as a preamp, FWIW.
