Ok, rusty as fuck with faster right hand stuff but fuck it. Droid vid of my latest Flying V, with 500T straight in to a stock 69, plexi circuit (Metro). V2A is without the typical bypass cap that gives a slight mid boost. I prefer the amp without it. Makes the bass range much more useable across different volume settings. I really wanted to record mic'd signal and mix it in but my interface has decided it wants to distort on all inputs so Camera Phone it is   oh....Powerbrake on lowest setting and I have just put in SED's. at 30mA.

So here's some non-aquanet plexi metal :D

I'm running almost the exact same rig,'05 Flying V with stock 500T into a 69 spec Metro but I have a switch on mine to bring in or out the V2A bypass cap.I prefer it on when playing with my band so I cut through better.Sounds good, what are your settings?

Presence 9
bass 2
Mid 10
treble 10
Vol I 8
volume II 0

I was always against the 500T and figured when I bought the V I would change it right away but it's been sounding so good for C# I don't think I'll mess with it.

sounds nice, My metro broke up nicely also. I have since owned a few old superleads that dont break up as nice as my metro. I love those 500t pickups also

nice! real grinding sound!

Thanks. That's what I love about it. If It could get the big bottom to go with it I'd have my perfect metal amp. I only just started playing this kind of stuff with it so I'm looking forward to mixing it with bass and drums and see how it does. For cleaner stuff, classic and hard rock it is the perfect amp. I'm looking for a plug and play metal amp and this is 90% there. Unfortunately with the way plexi circuits overdrive adding pedals can't get you the low end I'm looking for. I reckon I'm a 2203 and a good pedal or mod away from what I need.

"No, not Dokken." ?????
:gethim: :gethim: :gethim: :gethim:

:D :D

I was too afraid if I just said "metal" and "plexi" people would think it was Breaking The Chains or another go at Lay It Down

Different, not the kind of metal tone I'd be interested in but it sounds good.

i really dig lower gain metal tones...it seems the older i get, the less gain i want to use.
Great clip!

i'd like to hear one cranked and mic'd if you could get it up and running.

I dig it. Lots of upper mid brilliance that doesn't sound too clangy.

And thank you for not playing Dokken

Sounds good. You can easily pump up the low end on these. Raise the filtering some and add a depth control. If you want more than that, slap in some KT88's. :)

Should I look to raise the filtering in the preamp or power section or both? The Power section is filtered pretty high in these as it is. I wish I could get another Metro kit so I could build one for mods and tweaking. I don't want to change this one from stock as there's so much about the stock tone I love.

Only on the power amp. You have 50/50's all the way across? It won't change the core tone any....same with the depth mod. The filtering will make the bottom end alot more solid, so when you turn up the low end it won't get mushy.

Looks like you have the channels jumped too.

Yeah, but I only bring in Vol II when I have Vol I at lower settings or a lower output guitar.
