Hey guys,

Made a quick clip of my JMP with the Metro (line level version) effects loop installed, used a Boss RV-3 in the loop to drench the tone for the test.

Had a few drinks and playing is pretty loose though...lol.

I think it sounds great with the 'verb in the loop, and therefore the loop works great!

I'm refering to any tone loss. I know mine works flawlessly.

Love it! Gobs of great Marshall crunchy goodness there!

Is that a mic'ed V30? what tubes in that thing? I also run a ZW-44 in front of mine but sometimes i find it a tad too grainy. I dial the tone knob on the pedal back to like 10 or 11.

Also noted you often boost with an EQ pedal out front, what is your eq setting? Boosting the mids alla frown? I guess it is stacking so that you minimize the gain needed on both the EQ and the OD correct? Your setup sounds 80-tastic! Very convincing VH sounds too and that is without modding anything. So nothing done to that amp, bright cap still in etc...?

Wow thanks for the responses, I listened this morning and the sloppy playing was embarassing.

The JMP is stock except for the effects loop. It has been recapped and new bias supply resistors, I was told for an amp this old it's good preventative maintenance.

Cheapo JJ 6550's.

My EQ is mostly boosting the mids and the bass is bumped up a little as well as well, and boosting the overall signal level.

I usually rotate between the ZW-44, Boss SD-1, and Maxon OD-9 all with similar results when combined with the EQ.

The V30 in the Uberkab is miced with an SM57 and recorded simultaneously with the video and combined, the built in mic in my camera is pretty bad.

I like the dynamics that you're coaxing out of the amp. Tight and crunchy and nothing to be embarassed about

I am currently installing one in a 77' JMP, as well. Hope my results are just as great as yours

Nicely fat & meaty. Very cool sounding, Tom.

Hey Olaf you said that loop is shitty and I should install a tube loop in mine  :gethim:

I think I've said that it colors the tone and that I prefer a tube driven loop. The clip, which includes three pedals, is cool IMO.
You could ask Tom to do a clip of the pure amp, its crunch, and compare that to the amp before modding (I think Tom has some clips done before the loop mod).
And if the clip represents the sound you're after, just go for it.

I was just making fun Olaf ;)

I really appreciate our input on this!

But I do wonder if or if not I should have two holes drilled in my JMP. It's a mighty fine amp as is, and maybe I should rather build me one of those Matrix amps into a 2x12" and do a neat W/D rig with it.
