I bought this amp without really knowing much about it. Being a habitual gear flipper and finding a good price on it, I figured, why the hell not?

From what I had read, the Mezza stuff is very SLO inspired. I can't vouch for that, as I've never played a true SLO, but owning an Avenger 100 and the Synergy SLO Module, I can say that the Mezza sounds very much in line with both of these.

BUT - The Mezza has an absolutely nasty, raw midrange grind that the other two do not. It also has a top end clarity and note separation like I've never heard before. Once you start pushing the amp a little, it just screams. Truthfully, I like my tones bright, and this thing was very easy to make overly bright if you weren't careful, but once I understood how the presence and treble knobs interacted, I easily found a nice balance.

I'm super impressed with this amp. It sounds huge in the room. The green channel is just as much fun as the red channel, and this amp has a ton of flexibility built into 2 channels if you dial it in right. On the red channel, it just sounds saturated, and pissed, but tons of clarity and punchy low end. When I dropped the guitar down to D for a single riff, I liked it even more.

The Skill may replace the EVH Stealth in my live rig. It's that good.

Awesome review. How does it compare to the KT88 Mini Splawn you have? Does it hold up in punch despite being 20w less?

Thanks my man. It definitely has some balls and headroom for a 30 watt amp. It doesn't sound quite as big as the splawn in the lows, but not many amps really do. I'll really be able to see how it hangs once I get it to practice next weekend

Cool. Look forward to your thoughts after. Agree, hard to find something a big as a Splawn, especially in those mini heads. Love mine.

“I love amps” :hys:
Great demo, Kyle! That’s an aggressive little bastard.

Amp sounds alot tighter in the lows and does have alot more raw and aggressive bite to it compared to alot of SLO clips that I have heard. I guess I would have to say the SLO at times sound too smooth. It sound like you are familiar with the Soldano sound and you hear a difference as well sitting in front of the amp.

I also like the fact that they used full sized EL34 tubes. All things considered I think it sound better than the Soldano HR25 and SLO30 which I liked when they were released.

Nice Video! Kyle! :2thumbsup:

Well if all goes well I should have one of these on Monday. Definitely sounds better than some of the other clips I’ve heard.

Congrats! You found a keeper IMO. Great little amp, I love mine. I was surprised it covered as much ground as it does.

Nice work as always, Looks like a fun amp, might have to check one out.
