MIDI Channel switch options

Alright guys,

So i'm trying to use a 5153 50w and would like to have something rack or pedal related that can memorize channel settings and switch them. I have considered the GSP1101 and the control2 but i would like to use stomp box effects and can't justify the control 2 footprint( its huge!)

Are there any small footprint midi floor controllers that can function in this way with a GSP1101?

Ultimately i am trying to play with the channel eq issue between green and blue on the 5150

Anyone have any documentation on the breakdown of MIDI and guitar amplifiers?

Im not an expert on this, but Im using a Line 6 POD X3 live with my 5150 50watt with the MIDI functions and 4 cable method. It took a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to make things work in the 4 CM method, but the midi implementation was super easy. I think if you want simplicity and want to use the amp for its sounds and just some outboard effects from another unit, the Line 6 floor stuff (POD, M9-M13) are probably the simplest way to go. Plus with doing it this way, I was able to get the volume jumps between channel 1-2 tamed and still have a fully useable 3 channel amp. There's a few Youtube videos out there explaining how to do it and that is what I based it on.

Hmm im so MIDI stupid...

Joyo PXL LIVE Dual 4-Channel Programable Pedal Controller

Will this function similar?

Im confused how these things can remember settings the amp is set to?

they don't…. the amp remembers the settings the pedal is set to. you set the amp to go to a certain channel when it receives a certain program change command. what other effects do you use or want to use and how much programming across the entire system do you want?

The easiest option for loop only (and you get reverb, delay, chorus and pitch change) is a tc nova system. and they're very inexpensive secondhand and sound good.

for effects in front of the amp (wah, overdrive, whatever) AND things in the loop, in a single box, the boss gt 6/8/10/100 or a pod will do what you need. They're all very easy to setup and use and frankly they all will sound fine.

MIDI on its own won´t get you past any EQ issues, on the 5153 it basically only remembers what channel you were on and not the position of the knobs. It´s super easy to get MIDI to switch channels on the amp and switch EQ settings on another unit in the loop at the same time, though, and for that application literally any MIDI footswitch will do.

I have decided on using a JOYO PXL pro, and an Undecided eq/volume pot in a box

I'm gonna program my green channel to activate my "signal pad" and "GE-7" to give me a adjustable useable clean at an appropriate volume. This mixed with some volume pot play on my guitar i think ill be able to tame the Green channels volume, eq and gain keeping the BLUE channel the way i like it

Im gonna drop the Signal pad type pedal and/or eq pedal(Fish n chips or GE-7, Maybe a MXR-10? Seems overkill for my clean channel) post pre-amp in my loop before my time based effects.

Anyone have an opinion on Buffered vs non buffered for the Volume stomp box type pedal?

I use a Decibel Eleven switch doctor with mine. Gives me 4 loops plus midi control of effects and amp.

+1 on the Decibel Eleven Switch Doctor!

It has really flexible MIDI switching options so you can do multiple things at a time. My second suggestion is the JOYO PXL Live (not the Pro) because it can send MIDI to the 5153 for channel switching. Actually, the PXL is dead simple to use, but the Switch Dr is more flexible.

Any switcher where you can switch an EQ or boost/cut in and out of the signal chain will work, AS LONG AS IT'S IN THE EFFECTS LOOP.

+1

pulled the trigger on the JOYO, and i have have been in love. I woulda liked something more fancy like the Dr but, I'm working on two different rigs at once, so i had to be a little frugal.

The hell would i let someone lead me to a purchase when they can't take the time to read a thread, i mean i only bought something almost a week before your post and stated it? But yeah dude i'm gonna take your post to heart, I'm gonna have to return my pedal and buy RJM music brand cause i mean it has to be the best right? Your one line dipshit explanation of RJM quality was totally helpful in any sort of decision making process especially mine.
