Alright, so for years I've been "real", but I'm now going to try midi for the first time. I'm mainly going to be using Addictive Drums with Logic Pro.

Can any of you guys recommend a decent midi controller? I'm looking for something reliable but relatively inexpensive.

Also, what about using an Electronic Drum Kit with AD?

Thanks, D

I use Logic Pro and have been tinkering around with this same idea. So far I just do it by hand with the piano roll but I would also be interested in any info on this.

I bought a midi controller (keyboard) and it was a waist... Its much easier to pull up a already made drum beat (they have thousands) and tweek it to fit the song. That or just input the midi notes on your computer by setting logic to a "grid" mode. Its was faster and you arent pressured to record midi notes on a keyboard (which is pretty hard for fast songs, etc.).. Plus if your inputting the notes for a piano ,drums, or synth line, you better know your notes and how to play! I have one of those M-Audio Trigger Fingers (Drum midi controller; look it up; its just what i think your looking for), But i never used it because it doesnt work with my computer. pm me interested (BTW i have the manual; cable; and all software, and the thing doesnt have a mark on it because i never used it)

Thanks for the tips. The main reason I was thinking about using a kit is because I'm a drummer.. and it just makes sense to play out what I need.

I guess I could just map out the beat on the Logic Piano Roll grid, but it just seems really wierd. You see, one thing is to place a beat that works with the song, and modify it a bit, and it's a whole other story if you actually want to have something that is "what I would actually play, if I were behind the kit"

The beats and fills just come out naturally when I'm playing real drums. It will be a real exercise in creativity to try and imagine what I would play and map it out on a little grid.

I just picked up an M-Audio Axiom 25 controller. It's got 8 pad, and keys. I'm not a keys player, but I've always wanted to add some textures to some of my songs. So, might as well.

I also bought the full version of addictive drums.

I'm working on setting it all up. AD is easy, but the freaking MIDI controller setup is freaking complicated.
