I had this tacked on to the tail end of another post and I didn't get any responses (it was only yesterday just the same, but posts move so fast here it is already on page 3!) so I made it a new topic. This should be the place to get an answer to this question so I'm hoping I will get responses.
One of my good friends just gave me a Rockman Octopus to switch my CAE 3+ SE. I was extremely excited because I only had a single switch at the time, and was only switching between 2 channels, 1 & 2 or 1 & 3, and not using the active EQ. I set the Octopus up with my ADA MIDI footpedal and was fairly disappointed. I am noticing a small "pause", for lack of a better word (maybe you guys have a word already coined for this), when I switch channels. You could live with it but it really bothers me. I don't remember a pause using the mechanical switch.
I bought a Sound Sculpture MIDI Crosspatch MC-8 back in 1990 for $600 and the F'in thing never made it to the stage because of a LARGE pause in the sound between patches (I've heard that the newer ones don't do this......I wonder how many of us paid to fund that R&D). Is this inherent to switching with MIDI?
I've been tempted to buy the RJM Effects Gizmo, I can deal with ground loops, but I can't take this pause.
Does anybody have a switcher that gives an instantaneous result?
