Sorry for the long story……

I bought a brand new 1960AX. Great cab but the top left Greenback was dull and honky as f**k when isolated. Threw an EVH I had in its place……..woah this sounds good! Decided to buy 5 more. Three to fill out the 1960AX and two more for a 2x12.

Guess what? They all sound COMPLETELY different. Two of them are even more flat and honky sounding than the original Greenback I took out of the 4x12. The other three have variations in the high end and bass response. If I recorded all 5 you would think they are all dIfferent speakers.

Don’t know what’s going on but these are all UK speakers. If I remember correctly, all my Chinese greenbacks sounded damn close to each other.
 
Did this some years ago with Celestions made in the 80's.. They all had a different shade but were the same color FTMP..
You get used to the one you mic and think the rest sound like shit. It might be the other way if you chose to mic a different one.

I always had slant cabs tho.. I thing the top speakers sound best with more mids where the bottoms were more woofy..
 
yeah fuck speakers hahahahahaha .. that's not a rabbit hole it is a rabbit universe
