I'm specifically looking (online) at Jaguar basses and I'm between the MIM Troy Sanders signature and a used MIJ deluxe Jaguar.
I haven't owned or played many MIM fenders but do own a MIJ Jazzmaster that I absolutely love.
Is there a big difference between Mexico and Japan in quality and craftsmanship these days... anything specific I should look out for?

I have a CIJ Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass that I love, great bass. I have played a few MIM Jazz basses as well as some MIA Jazz basses. The CIJ Jazz bass has a great feel, much better than the MIM basses I have played. The MIA had a touch more sustain.

If buying online, just make sure you can return them. I would be much more comfortable with the MIJ/CIJ bass over the MIM, they seem to be much more consistent. That's not to say you won't find a MIM fender that is awesome.

It depends. I'm not sure about the basses but with the guitars they have a classic players series that's really good for the price. Way better than the standard run of the mill mexican strat
