I sell stuff, then regret it, then buy it back....

Anyways, I used to have some of the UK made standard greenbacks g12m-25 and sold them.

I found a 90s one and bought it, but I need one more....Should I worry about mixing it with a reissue Chinese Greenback and wait for another 90s version to pop up?

To be clear, I would have been fine with 2 RI Chinese greenbacks, broken in. I do not want the Hertiage versions.

The question is, would a broken in 90s greenback and say a 2018 broken in green back drive you/ me nuts with a sound that's obviously different and "unmatched?"

I ask because I've only had matched sets before. Maybe I'm overthinking it?

I'm sure I will get hate for this comment like in any Celestion speaker thread but to me 90's era Greenbacks were the real deal with Kurt Mueler (sp?) internals. The new Chinese made greenbacks are an entirely different speaker to me except the rating regarding voltage and watts. Just find one other 90's greenbacks or one other Chinese ones so they all match and sell the other one or use for a different project.

Thanks! The sounding very different thing is what I was worried about.

What about the early 2000s still made in the UK version? They the same as the 90s?

Not a 100% sure, I know the early 90's had the correct and desirable coil just like the vintage ones. After 03 they went to China and or changed drastically.

That reminds me. I don't know which version are in the 1960B I have which is my #1 cab.

Makes me want to pull the back and check but that sounds like a major PITA and it will pull down the rabbit hole of speaker rolling. Again.

Nope. I will live with whatever is in there. Sounds good to me.

So EXP is talking about the 6402 cones from the early 90s on, they stopped them from what I can tell around 2001. I had a cab from 2000 with them, right next to a 95 AX cab also with those cones and they sounded identical. They also sound very close to the RIC cones I have from 76 in my vintage cab, with cream magnet covers. I also found on the net that some consider the 1777 the SAME as the 6402s, and found a post from long ago where a Celestion rep said as much. So, if you find ANY GB from the 90s till 2001 there's a good chance that they will be identical to the 6402s from the mid 90s....I'll also add that these seem to be very different from the blackbacks I've owned...I've had 3 cabs with both H and Ms and sorry, not impressed. My 74 and 76 cab DESTROYED the Mueller cones, and I'd say the 6402s also sounded better. I know lots love the BBs but they are way down the list for me...YMMV

Don't mix a new one in. Pull the third out and throw in a pair of creambacks. Sell the third GB.

Thanks all!

I'm gonna sell the 90s greenback and a get 2 matching currently offered versions
