I've read that a 2x12 w/ G12H's will get you closer to a 4x12 w/ greenbacks

I'm wondering if there is a mix or other speakers for a 2x12 that will get me closer to a 4x12 w/ G12H's

I'm currently going with a 2x12 w/ G12H's, but am considering the G12H + V30 mix to possible sound "bigger"

(I'm only going 2x12 to get the smallest rig possible that still has some projection)

I have a Friedman 2x12 with Lynchbacks, was thinking of selling it but it sounds huge plugged into a good amp

A 212 with speakers that cover a broad frequency range will help, but the cab's dimensions make much more difference.

Two thoughts:

Mix WGS ET65 with WGS Veteran 30.

Splawn 2x12 with Small Blocks.

V30 and 75 will cover lows, mids, highs. Not my favorite combo by any means, but they work well together.

Other great combos I've tried:

V30 and H30
CL80 and H30
H30, Gold
Weber Legacy and Weber Gray Wolf

My clients have had great results with mixing a bass cone speaker and a midrange based speaker together.

The most popular is the H55/J75 mix, followed by the H55/M75 mix for a 2x12. Your 2x12 has to be close to a 4x12 in depth and width to make this work. You can't put the speakers into a shallow or small cab and decrease the volume of the cab behind the speakers too much or it will sound boxy/congested, etc.

There's no big secret to this, but you do have to experiment with speaker types, your amp's EQ settings, etc to dial in the tone you want.
