I love the tone of my DLX with the density off but the VX and other gain module with it around 12:00 with my TM 2x12 cab. The density changes my clean tone in a way I don't like. How do you guys get around that? I tried messing with the eq but it's not the same. The VX needs a little low end thump to fill out channel A.

I'm using a MOD100 with SED 6550's and a GT-E34L mix so it might be different on yours than mine.

These are the settings on my three goto modules:

DLX BassBoost 0, Bright on 1, B 12:00, M 12:00, T 12:00
SL2x BassBoost 0, Bright on 0, B 12:00, M 12:30, T 1:00
EG5 BassBoost 1, Bright on 1, B 10:30, M 12:00, T 12:00

At low volume practicing levels I keep the density about 10 o'clock, presence about 1 o'clock. With the band density about 8:30 o'clock.

I haven't tried this... However, how about using a front end booster to balance out the tone/density difference between the modules? I actually like the way that John Herrington uses the RC Booster as a "problem solver"... Be it a way to make gain back to the loop or to effect the tone of the DLX.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the reply DN. I find that the VX sounds best to my ears with the Density around 11:00-12:00. Here are my DLX settings. I'm using TS 6550 with a openback cab. I'm nailing Brent Mason's BF tones with my Tele.

DLX Ch A, Gain 10:00, BassBoost 0, Bright on 0, B 10:30, M 11:00, T 10:30, Density-off, Presence 2:00

VX (rock gigs) Ch A gain-full, Ch B 3:00, BassBoost 0, Bright on 1, B 11:00, M 1:30, T 1:00, Density 12:00, Presence 2:00
VX (country gigs) Ch A gain-11:00, Ch B 10:00, BassBoost 1, Bright on 1, B 10:00, M 12:00, T 10:00

I guess for now I'll just adjust the density between songs or just find a happy medium.

Here are some recommended settings that muddrock gave me on the VX and they are pretty much on the money.

VX should be here Thursday or Friday.

Any suggested settings would be appreciated.

I highly recommend changing V1 to a 5751 so you can get the best results out of channel A.
I typically run Bright boost on 1 and Bass boost off. In this circuit (just like a real Vox) turning up the treble control decreases the bass frequencies so there is a lot of tweakability in this module.

My typical settings are:
CHA
Gain@9:00 Ch Master @ 3:00ish
Bass@10:00
Mids@1:00
Treble@12-2:00 depending on the guitar and or speakers/cabs.
CHB
Gain@1:00 Ch Master @ noonish
Bright Boost1
Bass Boost Off
FWIW, Most of my guitars are humbucker equipped.
In my rig, this gives 2 excellent tones--clean chimey VX and warm overdriven with a good top end for clarity. Both channels take drive pedals extremely well. BB preamp into ChA is just beautiful and OCD on ChB sounds like an overdriven Plexi.

You're gonna really like the VX!
