Mod 50 effects loop clipping

I'm using a T-Rex Replica and really love the tone of the delay. I've tried running the channel volumes low and the master high and I'm still getting clipping. I also tried running the send and slave outs to another amp for a W/D rig and I'm still getting clipping. Bruce made me a 20db send cable and it's still clipping plus it cuts my signal down so low that I have to run the parallel level so high that it defeats the purpose of using the parallel loop. I would really like to put use the Replica but am coming to the reality that it's not going to work.

Any suggestions?

Ebtech line level shifter?? Never had one, but have heard guys talk about them.

What does it do that a padded cable can't do? If it will take care of my issues I'll take a ride up to GC and pick one up. I'm a little skeptical though because this is the only amp I've owned where I have this issue. You would think I could get a high end pedal like the Replica to work w/o a lot of hassle. I wonder if the rack guys have the same issues?

It returns the signal back up to +4db and the ebtech also helps with ground hum. It works pretty well. Definitely worth a shot.

I have one and used it with my Mod50&100 works great. I needed one for the G system. also line out is pretty hot and Bruce makes a cable with a resistor soldered in line to fix that, incase you do a wet/dry/wet rig.

Just curious, Why would you need the ebtech, I'm running a G-Force and I don't have any clipping issues?

Is just because that one pedal isn't designed to work in the effects loop?

Ya,the G force is a line level and not at instrument level

He made me one with a 20db cut and it still distorts my Replica. It even does it to my DD-3.

You would think 20db of cut would do the trick. How high are you running the volume on the module? Does it help if you cut it back? Also with the Ebtech, the level is brought down to instrument level and then back up to line level; all the cable is doing is lowering the level going in.

Marco,
I've tried running the master high and and the channel levels low and I still experience some clipping. Have you ever tried your LLS with delay pedals and if so did it clip?

I find it hard to believe even with the pad and the module masters down low, our effects would still "clip"? Do any effects work in the loop or does everything distort no matter what?

Bruce, Thanks for the reply. All the delay pedals I own distort in the loop. The repeats sound dirty. With your padded cable I have to run the mix level on the front of the amp to around 2:00-3:00 to get the desired delay. Even with the 20db pad I still get distortion on the repeats.

Id use a ebtech LLS. I didnt have any problems with that, just the line out.

So you are using the parallel loop? Is there any settings on the channel masters where the pedals do not distort? The loop level can tend to get high enough to distort pedal level effects but your case sounds extreme.

I'm using the parallel loop. It does clip some even with the channel masters down. Weird huh?

Do you have the effects units set for 100% wet/effect so that no dry signal is passing through them?

Yes

What about trying a different tube in the loop tube buffer? I believe it's the one in the middle in the back of the amp.

Hmm I never thought of that. What tube is recommended for that slot?

Thanks,
Billy
