Okay,
I am dangerously close to having the money for a mod. Dave... or anyone out there, I was wondering if you could help me with my decision. I have a stock JCM800 reissue. On a scale of 1 to 10... could you place the stock versions amount of gain, then the BE, and HBE. I think that will kind of put in perspective, for me anyways. Also, if anyone would share their opinions with the differences between the SAT, FAT, and C45 switches as well. Eternally grateful.
Brad

Ok an 800 with gain on 10 is about the BE with gain at half or a bit more. HBE adds a small boost to it of about another half a turn or a bit less. The Sat adds gain to the same level as the HBE but the voice is different [think 80's metal] fat adds well a fatter sound. The c45 is a different voicing then the BE. It has a bit more gain a little more sparkle and a slightly bigger bottom end. Hope this helps. Dave

So... if I were to go with the BE mod.... and possibly the C45 switch, how much would I be looking at? and... would you would say that with the gain of the BE, the C45 would be a more versatile option than the SAT? Thank you once again.

The BE with the SAT is more versatile.

Get the BE, C45 and sat. That combo goes for 650.00 Without the sat 600.00
