I just got a Wampler Triple Wreck.. the intention is to use it instead of my Riot taking the flight to gigs.

It's a much more transparent box than the Suhr Riot with a a GREAT crunch and dynamics... I like it. Also easier to get your sound with various amps, cause of the very good tone stack on this pedal.

Only thing:
Just like on my old Soldano Avenger, when he gain is just at the border to becoming fun, it starts to mud out and get boomy. I'd like to get just a tad more of usable high quality crunch. We are not talking allot.. just a bit.. I depend allot on sustain, and If we played faster I wouldn't care... but we play doom/heavy metal.

I would try putting a boost in front of it. It might give you a little more edge and sustain.

I did try that :) CmatMods 808 clone on clean boost setting. It did what i wanted, but it also changed the tone too much.. it would sound great kicking in for leads tho.. however the Triple Wreck sounds AWESOME on leads by itself also.

The idea was to only have one dirt pedal on my limited space Pedaltrain jr.

Here in EU we travel light ;)

I use a Barber Tone Press on the "Majic Dust for Single Coils" setting with my Triple Wreck. Awesome pedal.

Ah, so you run a clean compressor. thus not feeding the triple wreck harder but simply less dynamic. smart. I should try that.

Yep. I also just got a Wampler Sovereign. Great freakin pedal. Very versatile as in I can run it as an OD or use it as a distortion into a clean amp - it has a toggle for these 2 settings. For a small board this may be an excellent solution. Less boomy than the TW. If you get a chance, check it out.

I got a Wampler Ego Comp. That pushed the Barber Tone Press out of place. Hmm. Will try this.

The Ego Comp is really another great Wampler pedal.

HA! I'm planning on getting a Triple Wreck for the same use - flight gigs.

I was planning on starting a new thread asking about the best distortion pedal for darker high gain tones. Any other favorites besides the Wampler Triple Wreck?
