I'm looking to pick up something for a more modern high gain sound.

I like tight, dry, focused and not too saggy.

Im really specifically looking at the Fortin NATAS and DAR FBM.

I know there are a very few amount of people who have played either and even a fewer amount who have played both -- but just judging by clips these are the 2 amps I'm deciding between.

Not really looking for a great lead sound because frankly I love what I have from my IIC+ -- I am also totally satisfied with the crunch/rhythm I get with the IIC+, just looking for something a bit different.

Any feedback would be awesome, thanks!

In my opinion you can't lose with either one.

I will say that the DAR amps are peaking my interest

How about then a new pair of designer shoes for your girlfriend...unless you're :gay: :)

We need to get specific:

Natas and DAR sound like djent
Rectos go chug
Marshalls bark
Uberschall is like a Recto with diarrhea
Your Mesa C+ has a vicious yet liquid K-K-Krunch
VHT has a dry scraping sound
5150 buzzes like angry bees
Diezels are smoooooooth

What vowel sound do you prefer ?

I can't imagine many (and I'd guess none) have played both the FBM & the Natas with the current OT. Have any FBM's made it out yet? Also, the Natas had an OT change before they went into production so most with Natas experience are limited to the prototype, save a few. I think there are 2 Natas's w/the current OT out. I guess what I'm saying is you may be on your own for a while between these two.

You can scratch everything you listed except the Diezel...

as mentioned, the OP described a VHT!

i doubt there's anybody who's played a Natas and DAR FBM, unless the Meshugga guys got a Natas, which they probably do.

i've owned a DAR Forza and Fortin Bones at the same time, still own the Forza. really doesn't mean shit at the end of the day for you, just means i liked the Forza more.

IMHO both amps will kick ass, but the price point on the FBM is a little bit more of a no brainer. they both seem slow about getting stuff out the door, so pretty much even on which one you'd get before you die of old age!

How many NATAS have actually been made?

Currently, aside from the prototype, two completed amps have been delivered.

Haha yeah -- I wasn't expecting to get either one anytime this year, but will be putting an order in the near future. I'm used to waits -- almost 2 years for my 7-string.

You know I heard a VHT Pitbull in person (never played one before) and I didn't really dig it.

I guess I'm going for the more "djenty" chug. I know I saw someone on the forum who has played both (Ola?) and was hoping he'd chime in.

I am leaning more towards the DAR.

Update: ended up going for the DAR.

First FBM-100HX in Cali -- stoked! The wait begins.

How long and where you at in Cali :D

I'd like a NATAS myself. It seems like the best metal machine out there.
I would like one day to own one.

~2 months, SF.

The ~2 month quote was a pleasant surprise -- I thought this would be a several month wait.

I am very interested in the the DAR preamp. I am for the most part done with buying heads, rack style a;ll the way, although I Understand the DAR is in a pedal format.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn man, that's exciting news!! Definitely keep us posted with clips, porn shots, you name it - whatever you can send us po'folk, let us know! DAR is seriously bitchin'...

Nicely done, 'grats...
Mo

I would go with the original ground up metal machine myself.

Natas.
