Go get some extra moving blankets, you're going to need them. That thing is stupid loud! It's kill small farm animals inside a 5 mile radius loud.

I'm trading my VHT UltraLead to BillyBogner for his Mojave Peacemaker! Pretty different amps as far as features and stuff, but I'm excited. I can't wait to take that Peacemaker for a spin!

I know Mentoneman loves his Peacemaker. What about everyone else? Have you guys played one and if so, what did you think?

Wish me luck... :)

Yeah, they're ok, I guess...  ;) Seriously though, anything you want to know once you get it, ask away...

Ha ha! Yeah, I've heard. This one is an earlier version with the power scaling added by Mojave, so that should help some. Plus, I'm getting a HotPlate as well. That should help alot (I hope.)

Mojave's version is the "power dampening"... IIRC - Brentsp created a stir when he posted over on the Plexi Palace that he figured out how the circuit worked and duplicated it for $2.50 in parts...debunked Victors $250 "mod"

I predict that you will prefer the Hot Plate on it's own over the PD. A combination of the two isn't bad. You will find the amp to be brutally loud - but freaking glorious in tone when it gets there. I had the Peacemaker and the Scorpion at one point - I would love to see what a Cameron modded Peacemaker is like

The Peacemaker is a chick magnet....I had two girls come up and knock on my door when I was playing it at max volume through a pair of 4x12's....said they heard it outside when they were walking down the street - on the next block over  I thought it was the cops and answered the door with my guitar hanging ....way too funny

Enjoy your amp, and warn the neighbors to expect small dead animals in their yard.

My thoughts exactly Randy! haha I am sitting here with the biggest grin after reading your post! Fuck that is funny.

But Thump, You know when you did those VH clips on your Deliverance....The Peacemaker should smoke those. Better attenuate though.

the PM is the most *toneful* hard rock amp i've ever owned or played.

it took a while to unlock what it was about and how to make it mine, and there are tons of other amps with more gain and easier to play, but i've *never* played an amp before where i found it hard to believe that a tone that perfect was coming from it.

it's loud, and it's a rock amp. i hope you enjoy it!

This will probably be the amp where you will actually like the h30's with.

To start, try this:

2xH30 cab...

1) Hotplate at -12db. All controls on ten, except Bass Volume on zero, Low sensitivity input. Adjust Treble Volume to taste and pull back the High Mid until it is where ya want. Should here some nice VHII rhythm tone...
2) Try the same setup with the High Sensitivity to taste a bit more gain, less VHII...
3) Try Hotplate at -4db and adjust the power dampening to taste to hear what it can do. Start with the dampening full on so as not to sacrifice your 2x12!
4) Try your favorite boost in front and adjust Treble Volume to taste
4) take the lineout from the PM (if it has one - or the Hotplate line out) to a nice delay into your power amp to another cab. Mix wet/dry volume, enjoy..

I still have mine after 4 years and still dig it. However I'm kind of surprised Billy Bogner is getting rid of his for an Ultra Lead.

That amp is pretty awesome. Scary loud for sure. I sold that head to Mark if I recall correctly. Lots of fun to play. Since you are not a total gainiac, you may really love it. I did too, but at the time I had a couple vintage Marshalls that I preferred, but only slightly. The Peacemaker copped very much the same feel as my Superlead, except better note definition, yet slighty less woody character. YMMV. Hope you enjoy it..

He said he got it from someone in Oregon that he had ship it back to Mojave, so they could install the power dampening or whatever... Does that sound familiar?

Yeah, I think I may like it. I listen to old Rush, AC/DC, or Zep albums and love the tone. I've had a couple of Super Lead Reissues, a SuperBass (belongs to Telephant now), and probably 10 other Marshalls, but I never really got what I was hearing on those records, so I pretty much gave up.

My band played with another band a few times last year and their guitar player used a Germino plexi clone. THAT was the tone I was hearing on those old tunes. I didn't get a chance to try it out or anything, but I never forgot it. I'm hoping this Peacemaker gets me that "perfect" vintage Marshall tone. I know that's what people say it does and I just hope I agree.

Chris

Yep, that is the one. It has been a while, but yes, I remember clearly now.. I did send it to Plexi Palace for the PD mod and they sent it on to BB.. Great amp. Enjoy!

Thanks Steve. I'll try those settings when I get it next week! Hey, I'm listening to your Peacemaker clips now and was wondering if any of the lead clips were done with the amp alone or if you used an OD pedal?

All the VH copy clips and SoloI and SoloII were done with NO boost/OD and the low sensitivity input for sure. Only the VH copy clips were attenuated to -12db with a Hotplate and recorded in a live room. All the rest were CRANKED!!! Lead Volume on 10, no attenuation of any kind (no Power Dampening or Hotplate) in my isolation cab... STUPID, STUPID loud... Some of the others had the TMB boost for leads, some didn't, I don't remember which... The "HCAF lead" jam I think had the OCD , but it could have been the TMB, or maybe no boost and the high sensitivity input... don't remember, but I don't think I can cover a legato tapping line like the HCAF one without a boost to a stock PeaceMaker... My 2203 and PPIMV modded one... is a different story... Smooth...

Steve

Hi Cris, congrats! It is a great amp for sure! I am very interested in hearing your reports when you get your Peacemaker. I miss mine and will be getting a Scorpion or Sidewinder some time in the future.

I'm curious to know how your amp reacts with the hotplate and how well the p.d. works for you.

Congrats Chris!

I'll say this much about they're cabinents...they are the best 4x12s I've ever heard or owned. They're what made me a fan of GH30's...running my Splawn QR through them was just amazing, better than the Splawn 4x12 to my ears and better than my old vintage Marshall 4x12 w/ 25's. Really they were the perfect balance of everything. Sad for me though, I lost that cab in a fire.

congrats Chris! that is one amp that i would love to try in person...
