I still hate the way drums work in Garageband but I like the sounds of the samples...if anyone knows of a good drum machine/sequencer/looper for the iPad please let me know!

This is the intro to Def Leppard's "Comin' Under Fire" off the Pyromania album...drums and bass are garageband...the rhythm guitars were tracked in Ampkit and then pasted into garageband. I had to do the lead in garageband with my Spider III combo because there was no way to monitor the backing in Ampkit. The intro lead isn't note for note as I'm just starting to learn this tune for my band. Having fun though!

oh...and turn it up.

How did you get Ampkit to paste to GB? How do you record in time with what the drums would be in GB? Clicktrack? Cool stuff though! I've got your exact setup!

I used the copy to clipboard feature in ampkit...then in garageband, you have to set up a track using the audio recorder...not the guitar amp. I used a click in ampkit...when pasted into garageband, it takes the click out so I added GB's click and then had to line it up so it'd be in time. It's kind of a pain in the ass though. I wish ampkit had 8 tracks.

It's definitely a fun setup to mess around with. I just wish I was able to record over a backing track in Ampkit...that would make things easier.

I just wish GarageBand had better amps/effects or that I could use the AmpKit or AmpliTube amps in GB...

I agree Steve. I had to record the rhythm track in ampkit...then pull it into garageband and sync up the click. After that, I just doubled the track and had to do the lead in Garageband with my spider.

You can record 1 track over a backing track in Ampkit.
You then export , then import what you've recorded back into Ampkit so you can overdub.
You can keep overdubbing this way.
Their recent update is great and they will eventually add multitrack recording and a phrase trainer.
