Is it good for just dropping your guitar 1/2 Step down??? Thinking about getting one to do just that...

I was jonesing for one of them myself. Figured I would't need to buy a baritone (which I didn't need anyhow). Reviews are a tad mixed on the quality, the lower you go. I believe it goes down 7 half-steps.

I'll put the $200 to the new JT Variax, which does all that and more.

I've tried one of these out numerous times, the only thing putting me off is that it's digital and i have a dread fear of digital given the likelihood of the upcoming human machine war.

however...

I cannot find anything wrong with it. yes, it does sound more artificial the lower you drop, but for a halftone, to my ears, i can't honestly say i hear the tonesucking or artificiality everyone's talking about. Look at a lot of the reviews and the comments people have had about them, a good proportion of them were written before the thing was released based on a preview of a prototype shown for demo at a trade show. there was problems with tonesucking and latency then. not anymore. I had seen it advertised, thought "mmm good idea" and tried it without reading reviews and though it was great. I'm only looking to drop a halftone max, and at that level it was perfect. I played it with a strat thru a hotrod deluxe and stock tubescreamer. no issues with clean tones and no issue with overdrive. i went and read the reviews afterwards and did just not hear the issues everyone spoke of.

you hear A LOT about the latency and how people can hear it, this suprises me because the latency quoted is well below the level a human ear can detect.

It's going to be on my pedal board at some point regardless of human machine political relations.

Thats what I wanted to hear. I don't play brootz so I just wanted to be able to switch between E and Eb without having to switch guitars with floyds on them....

I used it for about a year to drop from E to Eb/ D to Db. It does this really good but I don't use it anymore. It's still on my board though. I only bring one guitar as my Eb/ Db guitar. If I break a string on it then I use the Morpheus with a standard tuned guitar. It really is a great unit. Would not recommend going past a 1/2 step though for live use.

I didn't care for it at all. There was a latebcy issue with the one I demo'd. You can feel it. And if you play fast through it, you can really feel it.
