Motor City Afwayu

Just placed an order for an Afwayu to replace my Duncan JB. The JB sounded great in my LP Custom but I think there's something wrong with the pickup as I'm having some noise issues (my wiring is fine) so I figured I'd use that as an excuse to try a new pickup. I have an RS kit in my guitar now, wired up 50's style so it's a little harsh with the JB. I made the switch to new components so I could have a better sweep on the pots.

I was really torn between the Afwayu, 2nd Degree Black Belt and Angel Dust. But after talking to Wade it was a toss up between the Afwayu and Angel Dust. I went with the Afwayu and I'll see how it goes. I'm looking for lots of mids, a tight low-end and a smooth non-harsh top-end. And I need it to clean up well.

So, basically the sweetness of a low-output PAF style mixed with a high-output modern wind. And I like a darker tone.

"Ok, I installed the Afwayu, it is the most amazing pup I've ever heard in the five minutes I've had with it, it destroys the JB sonically, how did all these famous musicians even succeed with the JB? Wade took my order, took my money and even sent the pickup to my home address, how's that for service!"

two weeks later:

Afwayu for sale, best pickup I ever tried, just a bit too modern for my tastes right now, going back to my JB even though it is nowhere near the tone I get with this one but my musical direction requires the crappy sounding JB right now, I'll definitely be getting another

Too funny. I have one that I felt just like that about. Then I ordered another one

I pulled the stock jb out of my Soloist and put Afwayu's in about a month ago..
I frickin' love the Afwayu's. Lots of mid punch and a tighter lower end.

I had a Motor city Solution in another guitar I had and didn't really like it as much..

I'll buy the afwayu's off you if you don't like them.
I was thinking of putting a set in my Torero and getting rid of the emg's.
The emg's sound good in my little 15w practice amp at work but sound horrible through my Herbert.

Weird, my EMG equipped Jackson sounds baller through my VH4. I've got an 85 in the bridge and put the 81 in the neck. I run the mids pretty high, around 2 or 3:00 at the least. It's aggressive as all hell.
