This is my first post so here it goes: I'm looking to replace the stock pups on my PRS SE Singlecut (Hog body w/ maple cap - rosewood fboard). I play heavier style music some drop D and C as well as some classic metal. I play mainly rhythm guitar - high gain distortion - using the bridge pup for the heavy stuff. I use the neck position pup for clean tones and would also like to find a neck pup that had a nice open airy sparkle to it.

I've been hearing great things about Motor City pups. I was leaning towards the Afwayu possibly for the bridge position because its supposed to be fairly versatile and have a nice chunky low end but I also prefer to have a bit of crisp high end to go with it. I have read that the Afwayu lacks a bit in the crisp high dept. Any recommendations for a bridge and neck pup to meet my needs? It doesn't have to be a Motor City pup.

My single cut solid mahogany body with an Afwayu rocks!

Jeff I noticed in reading some of the past posts on this forum that Wade has a newer tweaked version of the Afwayu. Do you know if yours is the newer version or older one. Also how do the highs of your Afwayu sound in the PRS?

Afwayu, Angel Dust, or 2nd Degree for Mahog/Maple top. You'll keep the high end, but it will be somewhat richer and warmer than your average pup. etc. Also check out http://www.wcrguitar.com. Read and check out sound clips on the Godwood and the Darkburst. Awesome pups!

If you really want to get a great recommendation for your axe specifically, then give Wade a call or find him on the forum here.

I have afwayu sets in a couple of McCartys. Huge sounding

I've been listening to James Lugo's pickup shootout clips and was wondering if the Afwayu clip was made with the newer tweaked Afwayu version that Wade referenced in one of his posts. Does the Ahwayu cut through pretty well with all of the lows and low mids? The Torque sounded pretty good too however I didn't see that pup on his website.

It was the older. I just received the updated Afwayu (what is soon to be the Jerry Cantrell sig pup). If you're looking for crisp, bright highs I'm not sure the Afwayu is what you're looking for.

I second the motion that you should consult Wade.
