Any ever use these before. Interested in some 2nd Degree Black Belts and wanted some opinions. Thank you guys.

Good pickups for the price (I’ve had Detroiters, 2nd Degree Blackbelts, Twrecks, Angel Dust, Hot Head and Afwayu’s), but these days he’s known for really long wait times and poor communication. Not sure how often they come up used these days. If you’re looking for paf style pickups the Wolfetone’s imo sound more authentic to that sound and more organic, richer tone, but the Motor City’s are tighter and arguably better for metal because of that. Klein’s are also good for paf style pickups. The best I’ve had of current made/non-vintage pickups are the Tone Specific’s, but they cost more

Poor communication but Wade always delivers. The Afwayu and Solution are two of my favorite pickups ever.

What type of tone are you looking to achieve ?
Mostly rock sounds. I have grown tire alnico 5 magnet pickups. A2 are to round in the low end. Looking for low output and a more even frequency response from the pickup

I found a set on here but can't get ahold of the guy because I'm new. Kind of annoying.

That's just the nature of guitar players , we can only play for so long with the same pickups , guitar and amps until we need to try something new because we get too used to a certain sound and that sound doesn't provide the excitement it once did .

Not too different than girlfriends and wives , eventually you just get sick of it, need something new.

Lead time update. I ordered 2 pickups from motor city on Dec. 19 and they arrived this weekend. Vast improvement over my last order (3 mos.) from a few years ago... Thanks wade!

I’ve never not had Wade deliver. His communication is not always great and his completion time varies, but he’s always delivered. I don’t know why people whine so much. His pickups are worth the wait. I’ve had the 2nd Degree BB and the Afwayu. Both rule.

Dude you are so on point with Tone Specific’s pickups.
I have the HSS set in a my SuperStrat.
The bridge humbucker is not splittable,
which is not necessary because the way the bridge pickup matches up with the neck pickup is on point, it sounds in line with a single coil enough but with a thicker & juicier top end.
The 2 & 4 positions are amazing, especially with the humbucker/single coil combination in the bridge/middle.
The neck pickup is nice and flute’y & hollow
with glassy bite.
Very price’y but worth every penny.
TONE TO THE BONE.

In my book, they’re the only non-vintage pickups out there right now that don’t suck lol. They actually have some of that raw, organic thing that vintage gear excels at. His strat pickups are particularly good like you said. The set I actually am most impressed with is his Tele Deluxe set. Literally the only Tele neck pickup that I liked and the bridge I’d give even give a slight edge over my 2 actual pre-cbs early ‘60’s Tele bridge pickups

I just bought a used set of Bloombuckers for one of my Les Pauls, yesterday. The clips, and lack of bad reviews by people that have actually tried them, got the better of me.......

Hopefully they will arrive by next weekend, and I can find out !!

That’s the right guitar for them. They worked great in pretty much any mahogany body guitar I’ve had. In other body woods I often favor their Virtuoso set and sometimes the Twang too

I have a real ‘50’s Gibson PAF that I got to choose out of 6 that I compared with in the same guitar (2 different guitars of mine) and compared in the same guitar I thought the Bloombucker sounded close

Many current “paf” type pickups like the MCP’s, Wagner’s & BKP’s sound & feel nothing like PAF’s imho. You will see these pickups have tons more tonal complexity, detail and richness than those and responsiveness to playing, but they’re not as tight and they have that authentic paf squishy midrange that some guys here may or may not like, but it’s part of the paf sound. I think it’s a beautiful quality personally. Hopefully you like them similarly well. I only use now actual vintage pickups & some of the Tone Specific’s. I’ve been through all these other ones mentioned on RT and they’re just too sterile and bleh for my tastes now, but I was a fan of many of them in the past
