Hey guys,

Just wanted to update with my excellent experience buying from Wade at Motorcity pickups. I emailed and inquired about Canadian shipping, recieved a Paypal link a day later, pickup arrived a few weeks after. Product was well packaged, albeit with zero product packaging (I actually think thats dope, screw plastic/paper waste).

Went with a Motorcity 2nd Degree Black belt brushed nickle bridge for a Fender USA strat. I'll be updating with pics of this very special strat build as soon as I get the Suhr pickups for the middle + neck and HSS guard in the mail to complete the build.

If anybody is considering ordering I highly recommend.

Love Wade's pickups. Mine took 3 months and he seemed very confused about e-mails. I had sent him 3 e-mails because i hadn't even gotten a confirmation that my payment went through. He said he didn't get any emails other than the one he was responding to. It was a very strange experience, but i eventually got the pickups and they sound amazeballs.

I love his work. Last one I ordered went with unanswered emails for months before I filed for a refund through paypal.

Does anyone know if he has any new models. I wish he would update his site.

Mine were packed piss poor in flimsy plastic bags with a few crumpled up pieces of paper inside the box resulting in a slight bend in one of the pickup’s legs. They were clearly not packed tight so one of them came to rest in the very corner of the box. It’s like the pickups were providing the cushioning for those bits of paper inside. Wade’s a loser.

Emails unanswered for multiple months before I said fuck it and gave up. Have receipts.

I've tried the 2nd degree bb, and detroiter (I think?) and theyre both pretty good.

scottosan and Jim Wagner, both, have customer service that exists AND great pickups.

You got lucky man. When I bought some it took many months.

Me too, Wade’s cool, he’s in Detroit, so he gets
big love from me there.
Detroit people are my people, HARD AF.
I knew he would never screw me over, the pickups came 3 months on the dot.
Just like the motha’fucka’ said.

The second degree blackbelt is supposedly one of the top early VH sounding pickups on the market .

Had the Detroiter about 10 years ago. Liked the pup and transaction was good. Ordered another about 3 years ago……….no confirmation or nothing. A couple months passed with no return of my emails and had to file a dispute. Won’t deal with them again. Duncan Custom shop will do anything you want and sounds better. Just got a 13k roughcast A5 creation for my Gibson V and it’s the best pickup among my 17 guitars. Waiting on an overwound Antiquity with full strength A2

I've never used them but I've always heard great things about the pickups

But I have also heard probably 50 different stories about the dude straight up not replying to emails or shipping in a timely manner and that was enough for me to not even bother with them

Can't go wrong with Duncan, utlimately. + you seem to be very specific in your custom pickup selections with different winds/magnets. So knowing what you want is a good start with that option. Thought about trying the George Lynch model as it appeals to me based on EQ/specs but settled on the MCP for this strat.

I'm stoked to hear that, haven't tested it yet but thats exactly what Im after is a hot PAF/VH tone.
