I just bought a house in NC! Looks like the closing date is going to be August 29th give or take a day or two. I'm starting to pack getting ready for the move. Holy shit I'm either a gear whore or hoarder! 14 amp heads, one 2x12 TSL combo amp, one 4x12 and three 2x12 cabinets, 17 guitars and a shit ton of pedals and cables. I'm considering getting a POD for the move. It will be going from NJ to NC. Has anyone used a POD moving service, would like to hear your thoughts on them. Also, I'm going to bring a few of my amps and guitars in my truck with me so I don't have to worry about my babies LOL. My question is for the amps and guitars that I place in the POD to be delivered to my new house. Obviously, I'm going to try and make the delivery time as short as possible but I'm worried about leaving the guitars in the POD for a few days thinking that with the heat and sitting in the container that it could damage them. Am I just being a worry wart or will I be fine? All of them in are cases.

If the amps and guitars are valuable to you, I would rent either a large van or a small truck, load them into it, and drive down to NC with them. I have too many friends who had gear stolen or damaged during moving, so I would do everything to avoid that kind of situation.
One other thing to consider is the weather. Some trucks and vans only have AC/Heather for the cabin, but if you're the one driving it, you can always park under a shade, or find other ways to minimize excessive heat/cold on your guitars. On the other side, you have no control at all over a POD. it might sit for hours or even days, depending on the situation, in the extreme cold or extreme heat.
Call me paranoid, but I'm very careful with my guitars and amps.

Me too, that's why I'm asking if the guitars and amps that I put in the POD would be safe sitting in it for a few days in the heat? I'm going to try and bring as much stuff with me as I can, but I know there will be some stuff that I have to put in the POD unfortunately.

I moved from Long Island to S.C. 2 years ago.
I let the movers move everything. The guitars made it great. The tranny on my PRS Hendrix head bent. It worked, but it must have taken a big fall.
In your case, I'd rather worry about heat concerns then getting something broken.
Good luck on your move! I love the South.

That's my main concern is the heat. How many days do you think my gear would be safe in the container without the risk of damage? I am going to try and schedule the fastest moving time as possible once they come and pick up the POD to be delivered to NC. I plan on putting the guitars and amps in the POD the day they come to pick it up for the move.

I just used UPack earlier in June from Los Angeles to Kansas City. It was 1/2 the prices of Pods, and they did a great job. You'll have to hire your own loaders to load the trailer, but we did that and it worked out just fine.

I wouldn't worry about the heat, if you have cases for all your guitars. I was worried about mold, because I was putting lots of leather shoes into the trailer. It arrived in 1 week, so my shoes were perfectly fine.
