I''m looking for a multi fx unit (just for effects only) for my EVH 50 watt. The more transparensparent the better :loco: :loco:

I use an HD300 with my 100w. Paid $125 for it. Sounds great. I use in in FX only mode.

I'm leaning towards the pod hd 500(x) all in one solution but I heard it sucks some of the tone

Have you tried/thought of the Digitech RP1000 or GSP1101? I use the GSP (at the moment for all tones btw) and I like it a lot. Both of the units seem to be reasonably priced over there as well.

I'm also using the GSP 1101 with the Control 2. Ditched all my pedals and footswitch , hooked it up using the 4CM. Worked out pretty good.

I use to have a Gsp 1101/c2 with a 6505+ and i thought made the amp sound like a modeler. Probably it was user error.Anyway i didin"t like that amp that much.

Don't have any tone suck with it at all. Zero issues.

I use the hd500 and love it with my 5150 III. I have the 50 watt version, and I do not notice tone suck. Plus the hd500 is midi capable which is a homerun with the EVH head.

I've used a Gsystem for my EVH with great results and many functions

I vote either G system or a floor board pod! Hope you find something!

Guys i found a gsp 1101 (the one i used to have) with control 2 in $350 but I'm afraid I might not like it. Is the loop better of the evh mini better than the peavey 6505+

Also ok I found a pod hd 500 for $300 good or bad deal?

I have the RP1000. For transparancy, I would definitely go the RP or GSP route. If your other amp sounded like a modeler with the RP hooked up to it, you had it hooked up wrong.

to give you an idea.. $499 new, Guitar center $100 off(holiday specials), so $399 new.
Used $250 is a good deal...

My 2 cents

I've been using Boss GT units for years and have been very happy with them. I started with the GT-6, then upgraded to the GT-10.

I run the GT-10 in 4CM with the EVH 50 Watt and all my other amps (all my amps have series FX loops) and it works great. I don't use if for amp modeling - only for effects (reverbs, delay, chorus, phase, EQs, wah, O/D, etc...), tuner, noise gates, volume pedal, and amp control switching (on some amps it can switch channels for you). You can save different combinations of effects into patches or escape the patch mode and turn effects on/off as needed. It also has a looper, but I don't really use it.

If you set the signal levels correctly, there's no loss and it's transparent.

It's been sturdy and reliable. There's a Boss GT forum if you have questions or need links to additional info.

I did several test with my POD HD500 and it sounded like a Blanket was put over my amps, both Mk III and 20th X. Just my experience. I would go Axe standard, ultra or II If you had the cash. I had issues with the TC G system also. The Line 6 M13 was the better out of all of them but at the time was limited to what it could do midi wise. Now I just use a few pedals, easier to tweak and can change out any at any time. Loved the Axe II but spent more time tweaking it than playing. I found that I like pedals either a Pedal board or Rack with switcher.

I run Delay and Verb and sometimes eq in the loop, the rest in front.

I bought the pod so ngd soon. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

I have a Tc nova system and it sounds awesome. You can bypass the whole front end and use it only for effects in the loop.

great little unit.
