Multiple preamps - What poweramp?

Hei my fellow musicians,
Please take your time while you read this, as this is a somewhat big post but really important to me.

Im building a rack system based on versatility of sounds and good tube sound at low volumes.

I have a studio pre (cleans), an egnater/rocktron ie4 (in between and marshall sounds) and a mesa recto pre for my main rythm distortion sound. If the recto pre start causing problems with this project will possibly be replaced with another studio pre set for dist. or a quad or an engl 570.
But I would really like to keep it, as i really love the recto type of sound.
For cabs will have 2x thieles.

Now, the big problem is the power amp. It has to be a tube stereo poweramp that:

1) can work equally well with the Rocktron/Egnater ie4 AND Recto pre.
I don't worry about the studio or quad pre, as these er versatile enough with whatever poweramp. Not sure about the quad though, cause it seems to be very tight.

2) has usable volume taper and have resonanse controls as opposed to mesa poweramps with only presence switch and a volume taper that goes from nothing to deafness and nothing usable in between.

3) have a little "sag" (just a little bit) and not overly tight like a vht 2:90 or recto on diodes.

Now, i had a peavey classic 50/50 in the past, that had a sweet sound but i dont know if it can be paired well with the recto pre.
I had a marshall 9100 paired with a quad pre and the sound was completely uninspiring as the sound was way too tight for me (i only played through the 2nd ch of the quad, but still..)

What are your suggestions for a poweramp, having in mind all of the above?

Thanx, Chris

I have a Mesa Simul 295 modded with push/pull pots for resonance that is pretty awesome, the push/pulls have to go on the back though, so they're set and forget type controls.

King dingaling right here. I'll never sell mine.

Mesa Boogie Strategy 400. Mine is modded with depth pots. Sounds massive.

It seems like you've eliminated every common option? Mesa/VHT/Marshall/Peavey. There's the Engl E850/100 too but that would be on the tighter side as well.

I may be biased, but I really enjoy my 2/50/2.

Not me, but this video shows a great tone with recto pre + 2/50/2.

or the upcoming LXII by fryette

Upcoming since the summer of 2012.

I think that Synergy poweramp is proof that the LXII is dead. Looks to be roughly the same design.

Poweramps like these "could" be set up for a little "sag" like you want, then you could always hit really hard with these too if needed..Maybe a class a poweramp like the small mesas or small vhts.I used to own all them. But for me, these poweramps make my preamps sound and feel just like an amp head.

Mesa 2:90:2 or VHT 2150 but 2150 has almost no sag comparatively.

correct..2:90 mesa or vht 50/50 prob. better for him..I use the 2150,classic,Mesa 500, and my marshall 100/100 for heavy hitting.

That's fucking sexy !!!
Yea.. It is sexy. Too bad i have to live in the desert to play with that amp :)

Nah i've played stages so small my rack and a drummer would barely fit with it. That half power using 1 side is magic.

maybe!! that's why I suggested the synergy also!

Or maybe the synergy power amp is the proof that the LXII will be out soon? who knows!

In any case either one should be fine! Fryette quality and sound are undeniable!

First of, thanx to everyone who took the time to reply to this thread and for your recommendations.
I just came up with this new scenario:
Since i have some rack pieces and a mesa mark iv laying around here (which I can't really play with it at my apartment) i thought to do the following:
Input-fx send from mark iv in a loop of my effects gizmo.
Rocktron ie4 in another loop.
Mesa recto pre in another.
Output of looper to fx return of mark iv.
Cabinet out from amp loaded down with my thd hotplate.
Line out from amp or hotplate to a stereo tube rack power amp.
From powermp to cabinets.

That way, i can dime the master output from mark iv (which unfortunately controls the incoming signal to the fx return/ completely stupid), choose between class A/Simulclass - depending the preamp, and finally control and adjust the overall signal going to the cabinets via the rack power amp.
So, the only thing i really need right now is the power amp.
For this application i'm thinking, vht 2:50, peavey 50/50 or a mesa 50/50(this one lack resonance control and colors the sound a bit i'm afraid.

How that's sound?

Anything by Fryette.
Bingo!

2/50/2 powered by EL34s for a slightly warmer delivery
2/90/2 powered by KT88 for a more neutral delivery

/end

Since you're already going through the power section of the Mark 4 and just reamping the loaded signal, I'd suggest a solid state power amp like Matrix.

Hi,
Thanks but I think I'll settle for a vht 2:50 :)
