Are they overpriced at $1995 new? I'm looking at a Super Sport, love the necks, and prefer stainless steel frets.

Anybody not like them? Too much $?

I don't think that's overpriced, especially compared to other high end manufacturers i.e. Suhr, Custom shop Fender/Gibson. EBMM guitars are extremely well built with superb fit and finish. Its definitely worth it if they satisfy you when you play.

I have two EBMM, a JP6 BFR, and an Axis. I know what you mean about the Axis neck, there aren't to many guitars out there with that feel. Also, I love the stock pickups. My Axis is going nowhere.

Damn that's a good looking guitar right there.

I paid $1800-ish a few years ago for my Axis. Relatively speaking, its cheap when compared to other high-end USA shred guitars. If basswood/ maple is your thing, you can get a Suhr for $3k +. Its one of the few guitars I haven't messed around with (besides adding a D-tuna). Its a very high quality guitar. Its extremely dependable and easy to fix if there's a problem. I was going to compare it to my EVH Wolfgang, but really, the two guitars are very different. The Wolf has a flatter neck and a tone thats's thicker/ more low mids. The Axis has a more rounded neck (I find it more comfy to play for longer sets), Its tone is brighter/ higher mids. When I want to play fast stuff, I gravitate to my axis.

Having said that, my friend who worked at a music store scored the Wolf for me at cost ($530 new). Quality-wise, its more comparable with a Sterling AX40D. The EVH VS the sterling, that's a harder choice. However, I've seen used supers-ports sell for under $1k. If you don't need a floyd, that might be your ticket.

FWIW, I also have an EBMM Bongo and the quality on it is stellar.

I don't buy anything new unless it's a total steel. But I'm sure you won't find a better guitar for the money than an EBMM Axis. They are fantastic. I've owned four or five Axis and about five EVHs. They are flawless in quality control, fit and finish.

I bought one when they first came out in oh say 96-97 and paid $850 for it. Got to hate inflation.....

That's my fav Axis finish right there, beautiful!

At $1995' I think they are overpriced. Just take a look at their resale value, drops like a rock. I like them, but wish they came with a flatter fretboard radius. And, SS frets have only been available on a few select runs.

Hmm. I thought ss frets were standard. Most of the used ones are much cheaper and older models. I was looking newer for the ss frets. You saved me some $$.

As far as I know, you can only find them on some of the much rarer "PDN" runs.

Like this one for example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Music-Man-USA-A ... SwBnVW8zVV

I had one a few years ago...in trans amber...
damm what a great looking guitar...
amazing craftmanship and detail...
but the neck felt too narrow for my big hands...
and the body was a bit small too...

i much prefer my custom charvel star but axis is a great guitar!

Great guitars, wish the frets were bigger though.

Used prices on these have taken a beating lately though, you can probably buy an older one used for $1,000-$1,200 now.

I agree with the above. Great guitars in a lot of ways but my hands feel cramped and I would like bigger frets. It's a great playing guitar though. I also wish there was a way to get H-S-S pickups in one without it being a major overhaul. This is why I'm playing Charvels right now. I still have my 90s amber Axis though. Can't quite get rid of it and it would be great for my kids if they start playing.

These guitars are amazing!! I love mine, I bought it brand new from guitar center for $1000 then wanted $1400!!

That is an awesome looking Axis!!! Love that finish.

Honestly if you think they are overpriced, look at the Sterling AX-40D guitars. Import version of the MusicMan Axis, and they come with the same DiMarzio Axis pups. I have three of them and have been using them for over 6 years almost exclusively. Bridge change to a Gotoh and they're killer. Just my thoughts.
