Hey guys so I was looking to get another chorus pedal as right now I'm running straight guitar to amp, sold my Boss CE-5 chorus ensemble pedal a while back because I was looking for something different. Been researching the MXR micro chorus and zakk wylde black label chorus pedals but I've been reading up on the MXR Carbon Copy Delay pedal too because of that mod switch, I found this youtube video demo of one where the mod switch was engaged and seemed like it got a good chorus sound too with the delay:

What do you guys think? I do kinda like the delay effect too..

I'm interested in this also. It's weird, I was just thinking about this earlier today and then I saw this post. I'm trying to make room on my pedal board and trying to see what I can get rid of. I currently run 2 delay pedals and a chorus pedal among others. I was thinking I could combine one of the delays and the chorus pedal and go with a Carbon Copy.

It's just a slight modulation effect, not an all out chorus and it can't be used alone.

Yep, you can't use it alone. It's very subtle, but it's very nice, the perfect amount of modulation for my tastes. There are internal trim pots that allow you to set the depth and rate, as well.

If I remember correctly, the modulation is on the delay, not the root note. Sounds ok. Kind of a cool effect. Trails off.
Cannot use without the delay though.

I'd get a chorus pedal just because there may be times when you want delay with no chorus and it's a pain to hit that little button live. You really can't.

I only use chorus on delayed clean sounds. I have another delay pedal I use when I just want delay. I don't like the idea of having the delay on just the repeats.

I love mine and don't really lament that the two fx aren't independent. Got my vote...

I really love it. It really adds just that much that sits perfect!

The CC is one of my favorite delays ever. I play it more than my El Cap, DL4 (when I had it) and the chorus effect is subtle but perfect. The modulation is only added to the repeats, and there's a trimpot inside to adjust the effect. Awesome pedal!

a TC flashback delay might be better suited for that, although sounds somewhat different

there's even a chorus toneprint to make it easier, but you can also set the 'mod' delay setting and get a chorus like tone by setting delay/feedback etc.. to minimum, i like the delay sounds too

made a demo of using the mod delay as a chorus when i had one, mindless random noodling ahoy:

Sorry to bump old thread but listen to the beginning of my band's song Conclude The Era, can the Carbon Copy get this sound for the clean guitar intro? I've been running no effects in my rig and have been debating on getting the Carbon Copy or??

I'm running a carbon copy delay. Pretty understated pedal. A lot of people maintain it's the best analog delay on the market.

I don't tend to run the mod switch personally, but then I have a chorus pedal. The mod is really subtle.

Didn't realize you could tweak it. Good shout glassjaw7!!

I don't know if it can get quite that rich of a modulation sound on its own, nor stay that 'clean' on the delay/tails. It might get you 'close enough,' but IMO it won't get you to 'nailed it.' I still love the pedal, though, it's one of the few that has survived cut after cut when weeding out what I don't really want/need.

I love my Carbon Copy for delay. Like someone else on here mentioned, I use it more than my El Capistan. For shorus though, I love the huge chorus sounds of the MXR Stereo Chorus. Most chorus pedals sound like crap with distortion but the MXR one sounds huge.
