Like probably 99 % of the people on here ... I mostly prefer my gain/distortion to come from a tube amp ...
but when I do see you guys talk about distortion pedals this one comes up a lot as a favorite ...
so I breadboarded the circuit and ran it into the clean channel of my Fillmore 50 ....... I got to say .... I think I saw @CarlF mention that it kept up with the BE-OD ..

so having already modded the BE-OD circuit a bit .... I took a whack at the S.B.A.D. and kind of did the same thing I did to the BE-OD ... opened it up some ... made it a little more raw .... they are very similar .... but the MXR uses some op amps I've never seen or used before in a pedal ... which just that alone makes it unique ..
sooooo ... is this a favorite among Distortion Pedals ? Inquiring minds ... want to know .
