Ok, mine has the R28 mod. I'm happy with the effect but not happy with the fact that to me it cuts the high end and is too thick. Does anyone know if there is an easy way to mod this? Ideally a snip would be great but i know it will likely have to involve a steady hand and a resistor change or two. Personally it just doesn't do the VH or the annoying Lynch thing because it is way too thick. It almost sounds the way i would expect it to if I were on the neck pickup. Ideas?

That sounds uncharacteristic of the Phase 90 to be honest. Usually when I click mine on I get a healthy boost to the highs. Along with the R28 mod I also did the C11 and C12 mod (remove them) so that may be the difference.

Interesting... I thought the other two "mods" mainly affected the amount of effect. Anyone else?

When I did the R28 mod, I removed C11 and C12 too. I noticed a bit less high end, but overall the sound got smoother and more full and it took out some of the harshness.

a bit LESS high end? Oh boy that is the least of my problems.. I might need to record it for you guys and you can tell me if you hear what I am hearing.

Can you put R28 back in? I might try that first.

I had the Phase 90 block with the R28/C11/C12 mod, then got the EVH phase 90, which has a cool switch to switch between block and script. I now have a Whirlwind Orange box and love it. Its is the most organic sounding of the Phase 90 type pedals I have had.

EVH90 sounds great out of the box. There's probably better but that one pretty well nails it to me.
