Why didn't anyone tell me i should have bought this amp years ago  It came with all mesa tubes btw does that matter? I am also looking for a footswitch and its missing its back grill but whatever. It blows away my triple my friends 2 channel and triaxis I think 90's mesa gear is reaching its expiration date lol. Does anyone know where i can get the back plate and a footswitch. Also i am selling my triple if anyones interested its a great amp but not my cup of tea.

Thanks for the advice once i get my new wah that will be the next step I am also running a badmonkey for the crunch channel.i tried the maxon od808 didnt sound much different to me the badmonkeys pretty awsome

Yeah, those are great amps. I'm in the hunt for one now. I may have found one for cheap for myself, but it's still pending the guy wants to sell it. I have a footswitch from my last 5150 still, but I may hang onto it in case this one doesn't come with one. I'll ask the guy about it though. If I end up with an extra footswitch, I'll let you know.

I'd gladly trade one for a Triple.

HNAD though!

i posted this excerpt also over in egnater forum (as this trick works as well with the tourmaster).

the low/high inputs are really useful, but REALLY useful if you make them footswitchable.
use a regular old on off tip+/sleeve- footswitch. regular old cord. i use the boss fs-5. do this, and your hi/lo input is footswitchable. so, if you like both hi/lo inputs for different applications, and want them footswitchable, you can do it easily as i said above with an on off footswitch and a simple cord. voila, footswitchable low/hi inputs.

HNAD, i LOVE my 5150....it's HUGE sounding...i modded the shit out of it, but all the mods are on switches, so everything can be stock tone if i want it to.

if you decide to do ANY mod, the bias mod is the first i'd do.

do you have a pic of how you are doing that with the boss

did you finally get to the bias mod??? how does it sound???

Don't you mean the boss f6? How would you do that with the 5?

fs5L. cord, plug into hi or low input. plug your guitar into the other.
there you have it, hi/lo footswitchable.

works great. with both my 5150 and tourmaster amps

bias mod makes a HUGE difference...HUGE. do it.

ok so what if i am running a wah boost and pedal noise gate?

Am I misunderstanding something? I don't understand how someone can use both inputs. The manual clearly states that if both inputs are used the amp switches to normal gain mode (6dB pad). From the manual - "Situations where both inputs are used simultaneously (alternating between two guitars on stage using both inputs, etc.) should be avoided if peak overdrive is expected from the amp." According to that you're actually always in normal gain mode if you have cords attached to both inputs, right?

nope. follow the directions of what i posted. footswitch pedal/cord/either input. guitar to the other input.
try it for yourself.

season to taste, will work just like usual, except you'll be able to footswitch between high/low gain inputs provided you have it set as described.

A footswitch in that spot would switch between being an open circuit to a closed circuit. It would be the same as plugging in 2 guitars (6dB pad), and then unplugging it. That's what a footswitch does. Other than that, you explained how it works.

I gotta try that.

works like a charm. you'll love it. i've found since hooking it up, i use it a LOT more than i thought initially.

haha that's exactly what I did. sold off a triple recto to get a 5150II. it SLAYS with the recto oversize cab and v30's.

I miss my 5150II. meanest palm mutes I've ever heard.
