You ever get in your head that this amp or that amp is gonna sound better than what you got? I mean your convinced. I bought a evh 5153 thinking this very thing. I wanted to love it. And I did the first day in my garage, by myself. It smoked. The true test of any amp is how is it in a band situation. At loud band volumes. I have done this at least 4 times in the past year with different amps. Bogner uber, Marshall jvm, Baron K2, 5153. The Peavey has kicked ass on all of them. Its a beast. It just sits on top of the mix better. Cuts better. Grinds through everything. Has the girth the others didn't. Playing by myself I liked different things about each amp. But at loud band volume with a band. No contest. .I'm gonna stop searching for now

so wait...is this about a 6505+ or a 5150 III? and were you happy with it or disappointed? i'm so confused by your semantics!!!

I went from a peavey 5150 block letter to a Rivera Knucklehead and felt it was an upgrade in sound. they both cut fine, but the Rivera is much tighter and defined to my ears. Now my other guitarist has a vht cl50 that is giving the rivera a run for its money. That thing really cuts.

I should say that I have been missing my 5150 lately and might pick one up but definitely keeping the Rivera as my main amp.

I wasn't happy with the 5153. I mean it had a really good tone, the voicing is right. And if I was playing in my bedroom by myself its great. In a band situation compared to the peavey. Didn't have the grind or cut that I'm use to

I think they are both awesome and I alternate in my band. LOL
