Hey guys,
I was asked by some of my customers to upload some text/pics from TGP over here at Rig Talk. I love this Rig Talk forum, but don't get a chance to swing by too often. Anyway, here it is, and if you saw it over "there" then please accept my apologies.
Here are some pics I shot in my home music room of my one off Soldano SLO-100 head that Mike Soldano and I have been working on for 2 years.
What I wanted was a chassis like the very first 10 ever built, which had chrome transformer bells, but I opted to also go with chrome preamp tube shields as well. All parts were polished first then coated in zinc, nickel, and finally chrome plating.
I then wanted the circuitry as close to the first 20 ever made but with using the modern day build process and PCB's. Mike had to pull out the old drawings to do it this way. No huge differences, but there are subtle ones for sure.
The blue color choice was to tie with the Blues City Music theme that I've also used on the Soldano 44 Blues City Music 1x12" combo amp. These pics really don't do it justice as this is the sickest powder coat job I've ever seen on any amp. Mikey really came through big with this build.
Just to make sure, a bone stock SLO is still the finest amp ever produced in my opinion, I just opted to stray from that with an amp that met my requirements. After all, it IS Soldano "Custom" Amplification.
No clean channel, just Crunch and Overdrive
Treble boost/normal versus the bright/normal used today
Sovtek 5881's
(NOS) GE 5751's in V1-V4
Ruby 12AX7 in V5
(NOS) Cinch preamp tube shields (Thanks to Mike Soldano for these)
DC heaters on output tubes
Gold preamp and output tube sockets
Effects loop bypass switch
IEC power cord
CNC'd replicated billet aluminum Soldano logo
Sherwin Williams urethane candy blue on logo
One off chassis in Sherwin Williams Traffic Blue powder coat
Gloss black grilles, handle, and corners
All painted surfaces covered in Sherwin Williams clear coat
Diamond Amplification (Spec Op) head shell LED lighting system
Mike Soldano fabricated rail system for the LED light system
Mike Soldano machine screw aluminum inserts for grilles
White elephant tolex
I'll run this head with my #98 Soldano Surf Box (last one made), and Soldano 4x12" straight front cabinet with and X pattern of Eminence V12 Legends and Electro Voice EVM12L 300 watt Zakk Wylde speakers. These are also wrapped in matching white elephant tolex and gloss black hardware. 4x12" has same candy urethane billet aluminum logo.
Bump Cases matching 3 piece 3/8" ATA road cases.
This is no museum piece. It WILL get plenty of play once I have the professional photography done.
Thanks.
