If you like prog metal then you need to get this album, not a bad song on it. I had an album from these guys from 2007 but kinda forgot about them but they've had 2 great releases since and are working on a new album. I like everything from this album. One thing you'll notice is they don't saturate every song with shred leads all over the place. These guys seem strong in song structures and vocals.

I dig it! The music has some cool prog elements; hearing a little old Opeth in there and the singer reminds me of a less "rock" version of Steve Isaacs.

"The Detached" is a great album from them as well.

i like this one prog band called dream theater. they're pretty rad.

Did Dream Theater get a new singer yet? No. Oh ok.

Did Dream Theater get back to writing songs yet or are they still trying to out do one another?

I did like Black Clouds Silver Linings, the Count Of Tuscany sounds like a tribute to Rush but it's still a cool song. I though that last album was ok but Systematic Chaos was terrible IMHO. If you want a carbon copy of Dream Theater listen to the last Circus Maximus album, Dream Theater should sue them. I just can't stand LaBrie and Petrucci seems to have the need on every album to show that he's been wearing out his Metronome.

DT's new album is really good. There isn't a song that I skip over.

I agree with you on Black Clouds. It gave me hope for the band again. I was a huge DT throughout the 90's . The first few cd's never left rotation in my player and I went to see them numerous times. Until this day I still hope for something amazing again but it never seems to happen for me. I believe Portnoy was right in that they needed a break. I'd also like for Rudess to leave and Moore to come back but I'm sure that will never happen.

That album The Detached is great, the whole thing. I have the new Dream Theater but I just haven't gotten into it.

Yeah I'm bringing this back just to say that the new Dream Theater album is really, really good! Really great songwriting and something fresh about the songs.. I really like Mike's drum parts, Petrucci's tone is huge and his leads seem to be a little more well thought out than in recent years. Some really great melodic stuff along with the heaviest tunes they've ever done as well.

Why are you posting this? This thread is about Dream Theater. Quit trying to derail it with this Anubis Gate stuff (sheesh!!!!).

This is about as far from prog as it gets IMO...cheesy power metal.
