My Line 6 G50 has failed me for the last time.

What a time for it to shit the bed. Had a gig and played for a crowd of about 3000+. My G50 was dropping out about 2 to 3 times (felt like more) per song. It normally just drops out about once or twice a night during the 2 years I've had it but this was the worst ever and of course during our best paying and biggest gig ever.

I'm considering the new Shure GLX-D16. Has anyone made the switch?

Been using the Shure GLX-D16 since January and couldn't be more pleased. Almost went with the Line 6 G50 but got the GLX-D16 'cause of the built in tuner, plus they've been doing the wireless thing a lot longer than Line 6. The rechargeable battery pack is pretty cool too and holds a charge for quite awhile although I usually plug it up to the charger night before a gig. I highly recommend this unit.

Hmm I got like 60 plus shows on mine I love it its very solid and never dropped out. I may buy a backup though. Always have a cable ready for something like this

What's the 1 space unit the big name pros use with the 2 green displays?

It certainly didn't start out that way but I've done 2 years worth of weekend gigs and countless practices and it seems to have gotten worse over time. I've always kept a cable handy but this one time, it figures.

Playing a gig to 3,000 people and you show up without a cable?

We weren't told there were going to be that many people just that it was a convention. I expected a little side stage or possibly have to set up in a corner of a room with with a small p.a. It was a huge production and a huge stage.
I bring extra everything. For a 1:15 min set I had 3 guitars, an EVH 100w half stack and an extra backup 100w head. Where my extra 20' cable is I have no idea, it's been in my gear bag forever and while we were setting up I noticed I didn't have it. If my wireless would have acted up during sound check I would have borrowed one, it wasn't until the hall filled up and we started playing that it started dropping out on me.

Shure UR4D. Sells for around $3k.

Understood, but my comment is appropriate whether you are playing to 3,000 people or 3 people.

I had issues with the G50 also...I upgraded to the next model up ( I think it's the 70)...works MUCH better

I think the next model up is the 1/2 rack unit then the G90 I believe. I didn't see a G70 listed.
I don't want to start dragging a rack around so I ordered the new Shure pedal unit. I'll give it a try.
