Hey guys I have a Mesa tremoverb converted to a head with a 4-button footswitch built to switch all the functions. Well a while ago, every time I'd kick the reverb on the footswitch the amp would start buzzing really bad and then when you turn the reverb off it would go away. Also, the amp just has a really fizzy sound to it.

The tubes that are in it right now in the power section are 4 Mesa 6L6GC STR 440 Match Group # 10, Code # 10

Rectifier Tubes: Stock Mesa 5U4G - want to upgrade those too

In the preamp in V1: Electro-Harmonix 12ax7EH made in Russia, V2: Mesa 12ax7-A Russian 2, V3: ARS JJ/Tesla LN-12ax7, V4: Mesa 12ax7-A Russian 2, V5: Sovtek 12ax7 LPS, V6: Mesa 12at7 STR ECC81

These are the Poweramp and Preamp tubes I have lying around:

4 JJ 6L6GC's that I bought a while back from Bob at Eurotubes for my Tremoverb

Preamp Tubes: 1 Sovtek 12ax7 LPS (07 01)
1 Sovtek 12ax7 LPS (06 06)
2 Mesa 12ax7-A Russian 2
2 Groove Tubes 12ax7C
6 Groove Tubes GT12ax7R

I play modern metal in Drop B but I like a nice clean channel so with what I have now, are there any Tremoverb owners out there that can recommend what positions to use these tubes in? I'm also probably gonna go to KT77's in the Power section, I need advice on what brand to go with. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

I'm going to be putting in the JJ 6L6GC's I got from Bob @ Eurotubes some years ago in the Tremoverb for right now until I can do some more research on the different brands of KT77's and different Rectifier tubes versus my stock Mesa 5U4G's and then in the preamp section I'm gonna put the 2 Groove Tubes 12ax7C's in V1 & V2, the 2 Sovtek 12ax7 LPS's in V3 & V4, the ARS JJ/Tesla LN-12ax7 in V5 and keep the Mesa 12at7 STR ECC81 in V6

Hopefully it will improve the sound and reduce the noise and buzzy/fizzy sound

The rectifier tubes are somewhat moot as you should really be using the silicon diodes if you are playing modern music in drop B and want a nice clean channel.

I have been but I read online somewhere where you can use the GZ34 rectifier tubes and it tightens up the low end when using the rectifier tube side and people using KT77 power tubes to have the best of EL34's and 6L6GC's

I sincerely doubt a tube rectifier configuration will trump silicon diodes in any situation where you want tight low end. I haven't crunched the numbers but you aren't going to get a tube that performs better than the solid state rectifier.

Well just swapped all the tubes except for the stock Mesa 5u4g's and no sound at all??!! I did notice when I turned the amp on and was checking all of the tubes to see if they were lighting up that the one jj 6l6gc 2nd from left wasn't glowing but when I moved it a little it started glowing and then when I took the amp off standby there was a little bit of a blue glow in it? All the tubes were glowing fine, couldn't see the V4 preamp tube cause of the cover but everything was hooked up right, etc. I don't know what it could be??!! :-(
