Well guys, I was able to work on recording some clips tonight. Here is a clip of the Mojave Peacemaker with the Custom 45 Mod engaged through a Greenback loaded cab:

Also, I did a clip with my Blankenship VariPlex that Dave tweaked for me through Greenbacks:

I am still trying to work with mic placement. I need to get some more treble in there and some openness. I am using a Universal Audio SOLO 610 in to a cheapo Yamaha AW16G. The Yamaha has cheapo converters and I am limited to a certain extent.

Please excuse the rusty fingers... go easy on me. I spent the day cutting tree limbs and setting fences posts. My hands were so sore and stiff during the recording process.

Uh oh.. no replies! Does this mean that it totally sucked? LOL

Your clips sound great dude.

Just not Metuuhlz enough for the guys in here

Sounds great! That Custom 45 is it. Bark at the Moon sounded spot on. Or at least as spot on as it could sound dry.

Thanks! Yeah... I don't own any effects of any kind, and probably won't anytime soon. But.. I am fine with it. The Custom 45 is wicked!

Yeah , that sounded great  I would like to try my Marsha out with some greenbacks. Now its time I box her up and send her to Dave.. Im getting the C45, Fat, & Sat switch.. Also might get the extra gain & MV to use for a solo boost. I have no complaints just using the BE & HBE but I think those extra mods would be nice to have.. I mean after all this is the one amp I will never part with ;)

What do you guys think of the VariPlex Clip? I am getting close to totally nailing Van Halen. It sounds pretty much dead on in person!

I like the clips a lot!

If Dave chimes in I would be interested to know if the C45 clip is representative of how the mod sounds on any Marshall type amp or if it is a bit different given that its a Mojave Peacemaker.

Yeah thats how the c45 sounds on a Marshall also. Clips are great man

Thanks Dave! Yeah, the Custom 45 is wicked. I am liking this mode the best!

You betcha! Time to do some experimenting with different things!

just cause the phase switch was in on the mic pre doesn't mean its out of phase it just in a different phase. Its fine.

Well, with the Variplex, I switched the phase, and it added something to my ears. It was bolder and brighter! When I did that, I was like... oh... I get it! LOL Rumsfield will have to chime in... there was a HUGE difference when we did tests with the Variplex. We have some more mic tests to do, and some other experiments.

This will be a lot better when I can get enough money saved for an Apogee Duet. Hell, I have a 27" iMac with Garage Band. I would like to start using it sometime. I think the quality will be a lot better!

Nice clips! I agree that most of them were almost spot-on with the original songs. I would have liked to have heard just a tad more gain. The tone is just slightly "twangy" if that makes any sense. Just needs a tad more gain in my opinion. Great tone though.

The Van Halen clip will get a little more of that something with the EP-Booster that I have. And I might try the MXR 6 Band EQ. Are you hearing the twangy on the Mojave clip with the Custom 45?

I can attest to this. I think the Variplex clip sounds better, and that one was done with the phase on. Mot, I think you are spot on with it being "brighter". Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun. Dave, you definitely waved your magic wand once again!!!
