Tweaked Renegade (amp I designed while with Egnater) with upgraded Mercury iron and other secret stuff. Rook overdrive, 74 cab with Classic lead 80's and tone Bras. Parker....this thing was bought for $300 and its one of the best playing and sounding guitars I have every played!
Second pic is my #2 now...my LaMarra Tabor made from 100 year old mahogany and northern maple bought at a cabinet store!

Nice. Love the cab but you need a longer cable for that pedal.
:)

I really dig the Renegade! :inlove:

So you designed the Egnater Renegade? Major kudos man

I almost bought one. Love the footswitch too.

I dig your guitars as well and was also pretty impressed with the Classic Lead 80.

just take a piece of tie line and tie it off to the handle and make a strain relief on the cable.

seriously though. congrats on picking out the wood for your LaMarra. bet it was talking to you when you looked at it. old growth wood is some special stuff and it takes a practiced eye.. ear.. skills and appreciation to work with it. kudos.

Will we ever see the return of DAR?

I am so glad I never got in bed with him. I passed on going any further after a trip to his shop.

Well Bruce made it happen but ya this was the amp in my head 20 years ago after he had built the TOL 100.

Great story behind the mahogany. My father in law inherited over 4000 board feet of 100 year old Honduras Mahogany. An old friend of his needed to hide profit in his company so he bought a ton of it. When he died he told my FIL he would get it. We find it all in a beat up building with the same amount of Teak and Oak. We use is for some cool stuff. I have one board that is 7 inches thick 28 inches wide and 32 feet long. Tom Anderson keeps asking to buy wood from me for special projects. Like build me one and I will trade you in wood! The maple top was bought at a cabinet shop. When I wiped it, it was just enough flame. Only the arm contour was ugly so I just had the mahogany show.

that is a great story. a friend of mine is trying to start a small business making handmade stave snare shells out of either maple or hickory. the purchaser is responsible for hardware. most of the wood is sourced locally and has been air dried for at least the last four years.
that 7x28x32' must have been fun to transport.  you could always tell tom anderson that if he can pick that bolt up and walk away with it tucked under one arm you could respect that.  that is one serious chunk of wood.

That is so awesome. I would definitely trade some of that wood for a custom Anderson!!!

Sorry to derail earlier about the DAR thing. I think they were really awesome and thought you worked for them at one point.

Wasn't saying anything negative or involving you in the saga but yes.

Is the wood that unique and rare to where an Anderson trade doesn't interest you?

That's pretty insane either way, sounds cool.

I might just send him a picture and that challenge! The difficult thing is he really wants it for necks and to find vertical grained Mahogany is really difficult when its all ruff sawn and untouched. I guess I have to just cut a bit off the end and get it done!

i can understand why he'd want it for necks. at that age the moisture content has got be low and stable. i can also understand why you want to keep it! :D
