I found a nice Swamp Ash Fender body on ebay. I bought a Warmoth maple strat neck with stainless steel frets and EMG S active single coil pick ups

Looks Nice. Are you using the SPC or EXG circuit with the EMG's ?

No, just the AB, I would love to try both SPC and EXG, but I wish they would make one were you can have more frequency selection like 400Hz to 1 Khz which are the frequencies I like to boost occasionally.

I have the SPC set up for neck pickup only, besides volume it boosts the mids which is really useful in a HSS config. The mid increase really helps when using distorted sounds.

If you know what frequencies you want boosted maybe someone could tweak an existing design to get you there or build one like you want.

That sounds like a good idea, if I can get the schematics, I could probably do it. But their componets are so small, it might be difficult. I see you own a couple of Warmoth guitars! I got 1 black Strat with a scalloped neck and 6100ss frets and 3 other Fenders with Warmoth necks(including this one I posted)I love the idea of getting a custom neck just the way you want them. It's so hard to find a guitar in a store with the neck I like.

Very cool ... looks great.

I have the David Gilmour / EMG DG20 on my Strat - SA single coils, EXG & SPC.... I really like the SPC ... I find it very useful to help get some of Gilmour's sounds. It does more than that ... but I relate it to some of his sounds.

Thanks, it sounds great, I have a box full of all kinds of pick ups because I keep changing my mind. I have the Fender Custom Shop 54 that I like but the hum was just horrible. I also have a set of Joe Barden Strat deluxe pick ups which I also like but they're not as bright as the EMG.

Very nice. Looks almost identical to a modded Strat Plus I have. The only difference is I have the Fender neck with LSR. Same pickups, plastics, etc. though!

i found a mahoghany strat body and was thinking of building a lespaul/strat. do a baseball bat maple neck with a 24 3/4" scale. wonder what it would sound like? cool strat btw!

All of these great pics of guitars is starting to cause me serious GAS. Great job. After all of your work was worth it and would you build another guitar? Thanks for your insight.

I'll keep doing it because I can pick any wood I want or neck the way I like them and get a great guitar for half the price! Warmoth is a great company and so far their quality has been top notch! You can even build a double neck guitar or a 12 string electric! My next project is going to be a Flying V, since I'm a huge fan of Michael Shencker!

I had a roommate many years ago that went to church with the family that owns Warmoth. Not to go into politics but many years ago many of the more talented workers left Warmoth to open up http://www.usacustomguitars.com/ .... they make the stuff for many of the better known builders. Both do quality work. There is also several other options for anyone interested in building.
