I'd like to think he is just eccentric but whatever he is his guitar skills IMHO cannot be touched by very many. I also have to give the man mad props for being a studio genius also.

Not the greatest solo ever but massive bad assery.

Prince imo is 90% showmanship and 10% musicianship. I've seen this video before and many others, and never seen Prince do anything noteworthy on guitar. ymmv.

Personally, I really like how his guitar parts and playing always serve the song, rather than the other way around.

Love Prince. His since of time is just impeccable. While I haven't cared for some of his more recent work in the past 10 years, there is no denying that he has chops to spare. I wish he would release another guitar driven album.

I understand the position that your friend is in and like it or not, he has to toe the line and abide by "The rules" . Im a huge Prince fan, I think that the guy is true unadulterated genius without peer for the most part but I just couldn't deal with the whackiness. I remember hearing some where that Sly Stallones house staff has to follow the same rules; No direct eye contact. Id take the job just to see what would happen when I did everything that I could to maintain eye contact for as long as possible.

Kage, your comment makes me think of this Burnistoun sketch.

That's awesome! Good luck with your friend on the gig... btw.. can you give us the details to how he managed to get the gig..

Thanks

He just got back into Nashville form the Vagas Billboard show. He said he has some pics and info for me. He needs time to decompress and spend time with his family. When he sends me some stuff I'll share.

I see a Traynor, Blackstar and Mesa backline. One of those belong to Prince?
