Just finished this up and its another home run!!!! This guitar looks,sounds and plays insanely well. Here is the parts list;

Mighty Mite Neck-22 jumbo frets, maple, full Scallop
Warmoth Body-Swamp Ash,Heavily Relicd( seriously abused) by my son and I
DiMarzio Pickups-Area 61 neck,Area 67 middle, Single Coil Sized Tone Zone Bridge
Schaller Bridge-Old ass German Recessed Schaller Floyd

I am blown away at how great this guitar is. Its sounds incredible across the gain spectrum on every pickup and once you get used to the scallops, it plays like a dream. Other than the frets needing a leveling,grind and polish, the guitar went together pretty quickly and for the most part, is little more than cheap parts that were lovingly assembled. Ive got 2 more in the works; One will be ready in a week or so and the other will be a little longer as Im not sure how I want to finish it yet. So far, these parsocaster projects are just about as good as any guitar that Ive ever owned and Ive owned quite a few over the years..

Love it. Looks like a John Mayer strat that caught herpes from an 80s groupie. And I mean that in a good way. :D

Any tips on putting together one of these? relic'ing the hardware and body etc..?

Ugh, John Mayer??? I might have to sell it now.... Thanks for nothing Mike :gethim:

Also interested in what you think of the fret work and feel of the warmoth. I am thinking of a replacement neck for one of my guitars as i am not a fan of how snappy it is with a maple fretboard.

I had a bunch of random cheap parts lying around that I rediscovered while doing some cleaning. As far as the parts go, I got the Schaller bridge off of Ebay for 20 bucks all beat up. I wasnt going for any kind of accurate relicing, I wanted something that looked totally abused and beat up and thats pretty much what I did to it. I did pay attention to places where the body might get naturally worn and just went berserk there. after thrashing it for awhile, I steel wooled/sanded it to see what it looked like and went back to thrashing it again.

relicing metal is easy, you use Muriatic acid. you put it in a small plastic container and then put it in another larger sealable plastic container thats large enough to hold the Acid container and whatever parts you want reliced and do it in stages until you achieve the look that youre going for. As far as plastic goes, you need to sand the sheen off of the parts and then you use shoe polish or coffee. I didnt do that on mine because its easy to mess up and just looks wrong... Theres a wealth of information on the web regarding tutorials for doing this kind of stuff, I just wung it because I really didnt care LOL

Im partial to maple for the snappiness but as far as where to go, theres a bunch of places that you can go. I used mighty mite because its cheap but you can go Warmoth, Musicraft,USA guitar parts etc...

Awesome Kage. I think I remember you posting a pic of that body after you kicked it down the street. :lol: :LOL:

Very nice, Kage! 2 to go! ;)
Yep, Ill Unveil the Sunburst with the 61,67, heavy blues next week..!!!!

Sweet! I just finally got my partscaster finished after procrastinating on the setup for about 3 months. It's amazing what a business card shim and a quarter turn on the truss rod can do for playability...from crap to awesome :rock: :rock:
