Just a short video of a couple of roughly played and recorded riffs. All the settings for the stereo rig, mic, etc., are the same for both amps. Excuse the rough playing, I'm one of those people who can't play for shit as soon as I hit record. Volume in the room was roughly loud TV level, so not cranked.

I played the SLO first, then project Plexi. Both amps slaved through Suhr Reactive Load and re-amped. Soldano SLO is totally stock with no mods using overdrive channel and settings shown in the pic. Project Plexi is cranked with all knobs on 10 except treble channel on 8 with 4700pF cap on the treble channel volume pot and normal channel on 0. It is also on a variac lowering the plate voltage to about 350V. Exotic EP boost with the +3db switch off and the boost barely on (knob at about 9 o'clock). Tung Sol 12AX7s in V1 and V3 and Sino 12AX7A in V2. EH EL34s biased to 60% MPD at 100VAC on the variac.

Eventide H910 mixed in at low level on one side of stereo rig and stereo ducked delay and stereo reverb as well. No changes in effects or mic settings were made between the two. Microphone was 3 feet in front of speakers and not moved for either recording.

youtube links won't work...
pls post the link so that we can hear...

Thanks for posting the test!!!
I don't know if it's the reactive load responsible for this tone, but your SLO with the gain on 6 have the same gain as my SLO on 3.
Mine one with the gain on 6 is a lot gainier than yours on the video.

Yes I thought the video somehow reduced the gain too. I do not think it is the reactive load though. I think it is the crappy mic that fails to capture a lot, both amps seem to have more gain to me in the room through the reactive load setup than on the recording. That mic is all I have to record with though, except my IPhone which is even worse.

My SLO also sounds gainier with gain at 6, which is where I usually run it. My 1959SLP has been modded and just about nothing will make sound as clean as yours. It's such a one-trick pony, but it really has the Marshall growl, which is why I got it.

I actually thought the Plexi sounded better in this clip.

Yeah I think it does too. I don't think this mic set up this way works for the SLO. I don't know, I'm a total noob at the recording stuff.

Plexi sounds better but part of that is that the volume of the plexi clip is louder

Just watched the 2nd clip
The Slo sounds horrible transiter like and tinny
Something is wrong

( i own an SLO)

Man, that's making me want to return my 1959SLP to stock. With your SLO at that volume, it should be sounding a lot better than that. Mine sounds better at low volumes and when it's at 5 or above, it's other worldly awesome. It sounds good, but I think something's missing there. Is your pickup height correct?

Yeah, it's weird isn't it? I can't figure it out. Pickup height is correct and the same for both because I'm using the same guitar. EVERYTHING is the same with the sound clip of both amps. The only thing I can think right now is the microphone and/or placement just isn't working for the SLO. The SLO sounds freaking great in the room. You can listen to my SLO set up the same way on some of my other videos on my Youtube channel except it was recorded with an IPhone or camera mic (both of which suck) and it sounds much better. There is nothing wrong with the amp.

do you use any detune effect or anything like that...????
I think both amps sound weird...

LOL. Yep. There is Eventide H910 blended into both. I guess I like me some weird!

an you make us a nice old fashioned dry clip with both without any effects...????
I think that they make the slo sound thin...

Yeah I will try to do a dry clip of both later today if I can get to it. I would love to do it right now, but everyone is asleep and would flip out if I woke them up with it. People just don't have their priorities straight! I'm going to mess with mic placement on the SLO too. I think that has to be what is happening, or it just doesn't like the mic regardless of placement.
