Spotted this baddie while doing a nationwide Splawn search on craigslist.

Luckily the seller was willing to ship. We got the deal done in 1 day and it arrived to me today.

Got a great price, a little damage to the headshell but nothing that can be seen by the naked eye. (This was mentioned at time of sale)

I've always been curious about the early Qruick Rod / Pro Mod as people described them as more aggressive than the newer ones. This is a 1st gen, with hi and low input, no gears, and Mercury Magnetics trannies.

I won't get to plug it in for another couple of hours, but I'm hoping I dig it!

Hoping so. I have a 2015 QR B+ and it's been my #1 since I got it 2 years ago.

I had a 2010 QR that I wsh I hand't sold, as that thing was even nastier than my 2015, but it was too loud for my apartment at the time, but I now have a house where my gear resides so I get t crank it more than once every 2 weeks for band practice and the occasional gig.

I have the 67th Quick Rod ever made in my basement...along with a 2018 version

Pics or this post was pointless

Had one of those back in the day. And a 2006, and 2008, and etc   Cool amps, and Scott is good people. Still remember driving down to the Splawn "convention" back in the day when the Nitro and Small Block speaker prototypes were there to try. Good times. Congrats!

I have two 2007-2008 KT88 Splawns, and I LOVE them. Promod and Nitro are killer amps. I like them better than the EL34 versions.

Ive had 4 spawns...they all were solid...didn't care for my 2012. The first one i ever owned was a 2006 with brown base Teslas...that thing was tone.

Great choice! Splawns are imo at the top when it comes to Modded marshall type of amps.

Luckily a little damage to headshell doesn't affect the tone :D

I had a 2005 Quick Rod. Loudest amp ever. This actually had the 3 gear "mod", before it was actually a standard feature.

I got a 2018 Competition 50 yesterday!

Agreed here! I've been through Friedmans, Bogners, Ceriatones, and while I liked all of them, the splawn is firmly on top for the sound that I'm after.

The damage of the headshell didnt affect the tone, but it affected the price nicely!

Always heard the early '3 pre tube' versions were the ones to get. Congrats!

I remember those days.

Thanks fellas.

Got this thing really cooking today and man, the internet has it right for once. These older splawns seem to be a good bit more aggressive than the newer ones. Huge bottom end for. a 50 watt amp with standard el34's in it.

No complaints at this point. The amp is tight and snarling, tons of upper mid bite. Seems to get a little more saturation than my 2015. The od2 seems to kick the gain up even more and lowers the mid focus, but I'm not a fan of that setting for now.

I'm gonna revert it back to KT88's. The amp needs a little tlc at the moment as well. Power tube sockets are real loose and gritty feeling. Preamp tube holders aren't connected the the chassis so they try to come out when I remove tubes.

Gonna jam this at practice in next weekend and see how it goes but I'm sure I'll dig it.

Congrats. I love the Splawn tone. They sit in the mix perfectly and have more than enough power to kill small animals.

I remember when Scott worked out of a NAPA store that he either owned or worked out of on the side in dallas nc. Good guy has done well.

Just sayin' Scott is a cool guy. He helped me troubleshoot over the phone on a Splawn that I told him I bought used he was still cool and happy to help.

Just finished a quick little demo. Used the same live demo of a song my band is working on. Replaced my live track with a recording of the Pro Mod on the right side using my Twonotes captor, one take because it's getting late, but I'm very happy with how it's sitting in the mix without much tweaking
